I think its a risky move. Yes he is one of the best players to ever lace them up, but not every great player can be a coach. Why do you think pele was never a coach. Look at morinho doesn't know how to kick a ball but a master technico
... or by the same token, look at Ramon Diaz! It's hit or miss with any player gone DT

I'm friggin THRILLED about this!! Obviously, for me, it's more the "Idol" factor, than anything else. I just can't erase Mexico '86 from my mind. I HOPE he does really well. Not only was he an extraordinary player, but he had a vision of the field that no one had. Menotti once said "he plays as if he can see the field from the stands". I agree. Hopefully that comes into play in making the team work. I think this will also REALLY psych the team up. This is their childhood idol, for ALL of them! Mind you, with the amount of Argentinian star players there are, I'm surprised ANY one with a little common sense can't put a friggin more than decent team together. Hopefully his ego doesn't get in the way. God knows he doesn't have much common sense in his personal life, but in soccer I think he's just incredible

well picture it man....u gotta start off somewhere ..dunga and klinsmann ...once star players ended up being coaches also for brazil and germany.....it aint nothing out of the ordinary....
if u ask me argentina aint got no other choice .....cause they were in desperate need for a new coach
well your gonna get mixed opinions from everyone ....i personally think that its a good move.....obviously people are going to be quick and point out his flaws during 94 when he got kicked out cause of drugs.......regardless the man always had talent and skills.....he made argentina known in futbol ....i remember him with bati canigia and el burrito ortega back in the days :):):)...
napoli and the rest of the italian fans would agree with his move!
He had skills, sure - as a PLAYER. I think, my point is that he has very limited experiencia dirigiendo un club. He had very brief stints and all of a sudden va a dirigir la seleccion nacional de Argentina!
To me, it's like you put a kid in the shallow end of a swiming pool where he can walk and learn how to swim. All of a sudden the next day you throw him in the deep end!
