you're a cow!
And you are....

i have to disagree with this one. What if someone is looking for something in particular? Wouldn't it be easier to just enter it into the search engine instead of clicking through several links.
MEH, I say have both options. Make it as user friendly as possible. What works for one person may not work for the other.

As I said, depends on the product and the market. Other than that I agree with you in your other points.

It really depends on the kind of products and the market is targeting. The keywords to me are: Simple- Fast - Easy to use- accurate.
Keep it simple. try to make the buying experience as simple as posible. The customer wants to spend the leasts time possible on the buying process so focus on helping finding the products in the easiest and fastest way.
- try to avoid search engines, make it more visual and intuitive, so the customer can get to the product by following a sequence of clicks rather than typing names that they might not even know.
-For each product try to provide the information that the customer will be looking for, provide links for more details; gallery of pictures of the features of what you are looking for in the product are very critical, so the customer can make the decision of purchasing without further inquiries.
- Display accurate information: Availability, sizes, delivery times and price.
- Fast/safe check out.

A search engine for shopping one of the best i have seen is Walmarts i love it so easy to use its practical and has it all listed at the top like tabs!
I think it should be honestly dummy proof meaning even a five year old can move around it easily
Also a search tab so if i type in black top i get all black tops not tops in general!
A solid search engine. I hate going on sites, putting something in the search engine and they can't find the product. But when you go through layers and layers of links you find the product. If its there, why can't the search engine pick it up?! Doesn't make any sense.
I agree with you on this, but most often than not, people think that because they see it at the store, they will find it on the store's website...which in all fairness should be the case. But to get product online takes more time than to get the product to the store. But you're right, better search words should be implemented.

Ppl want information to be at the tip of their fingers, having to search through a site is a real turn-off for online shoppers. Another thing would be a well organized site with well defined categories... ie, electronics, toys, furniture, etc...
Lastly, but most importantly, ppl want security. If one is entering in their credit card information, they want to be sure that its a trusted and secure site.
