Again, that job requires thick skin!!  HOWEVER, to question how would I give the news to a victim's relatives is just non-sensical!  Do you think if it was Genie's family member, I would've said the same thing?  I think my opinions were taken out of context and treated without common sense!

Genie, I hope that you get through this. Although some people are not able to sympathize with the sense of shock that you are experiencing. It really does not matter where you live, danger is all around us. Many of us left a war torn country to come to a place where we thought was safe but in the end there is no where safe.

Its difficult to deal with things like this, its even harder when you know the person personally. Imagine seeing someone and greeting then one day and then later find out they are gone. Re-location is not the issue, its the fact the we live in a society where unnecessary violence occurs.

My condolences. Take care

So what if another mothafuka died, are you the one who's gonna pay for the vato's funeral arrangements?? NO.   We can only feel sorry for someone losing their life, but there is nothing anyone can do to prevent this from happening to anyone else. Guns are everywhere, and people looking to hurt others are always out in full force. He was a good person who had enemies ppl had grudges against him! its truly sad.

Yes we are moving its easier said then done! WE HAVE TO look for a place an affordable place that accepts dogs! we are heading back to Toronto and well thats life right! it sucks but still!

You know the funnything is that we always said this building was too quite that it was a good place to live and stuff then all of a sudden its gone! and i mean i havent really slept in two days! thinking of everything thinking that omg that could of been orale in there with Him,u but so many unanswered questions! it makes u think also his family is not co-operating with the police! so that says alot!

Ah shut up TV Buff!  (Btw, you spelled "sympathy" wrong)     See!  I told you Genie's tough!!!  Yes, you're right Genie, I could totally understand your perspective.  If it was me, I'd be like this......... but if I saw El Pibe like Orale, it would kill me so yes, again, I agree with you and yes, thank you for acknowledging that I did go to school for it (forensics BRAIN ) so I guess that's why it doesn't bug me.  I've seen 3 people get shot in the head in Colombia right in front of me so I understand the shock factor.  I was thinking, "Ok, yeah, I gotta run home now!" whereas my brother, on the other hand, was having nightmares and to this day (2 years later) is still in shock over it!  I understand!

MUAH!!  You know me girl!!!  I love ya and I'm among many who care and will be there to listen!!!

@Angelita, Bellini, Wonton partner:  I think being faced in a life or death situation is a tad different than seeing a corpse, no???    I think if I was in your friend's situation, I wouldn't have said, "Ah what the hell?!", I know I would've gone mental but yeah.......I'm tired............you get what I'm trying to say?

The thing is, if violence is so much "in the low"... why is crime still hitting this particular kind of residential areas? It's harder to hire a lawyer, let alone a private police force, when one can barely run a home while feeding the kids and paying taxes.

And, somehow, I am afraid some polititians expect it to be a reasonable outcome of keeping low income neighbourhoods like that from falling prey to gentrification.

It's really sad. Genie I hope you're well and also that you can get the hell out of there PRONTO!

To me, Genie's the type to say, "That's f@cked up", evaluate it, and then just move on.

meh

Holly sh-it! It's good to know who NOT TO CALL on a situation like this. I don't know if I'm alone on this, but knowing that someone was MURDERED right across from my apartment is shocking enough, let alone being the ONE WHO FOUND THE BODY. I'm sorry, but if this is not the shock of the century in someone's life, as hard as Genie's life may have been prior to this, I really don't know what is-- unles you work for the homicide department or something. This is the kind of stuff we read in the papers and shocks us, now imagine living in right in front of our eyes. I'd say this is a traumatic experience if there was ever one! I ran over a dog once, years and years ago, and I still have nightmares about that one... I couldn't begin to imagine what I'd go through if I ever witnessed a murder or found a body. Jebus Christ, have a little bit of simpathy, woman! :tomatoesfo'youyoucold-hearted-non-friend:

True! But sometimes even the toughest person may need to talk it out! I know there's nothing i can do, but i or anyone else, can listen to her if she needs someone to talk to, we are there!!

A friend of mine got a gun to her stomach while the store she worked at got robbed and honestly she went nuts for a few days. But i was there to listen to her and calm down her a bit!!

I don't know about everyone else, but that's what i meant!!!

YES! You are right! BUT, is it right to kill someone who may give you some attitude! Well the person that was killed was not the happiest camper, but the person who killed him was crazy enough to murder him for that reason!

This is NOT a pity party, it's just simply a shock wave! We are shocked to have heard that happened to someone we know. Had i been in her shoes, i would have had a trauma and would have moved out. But that's just me

Now we're talking about the homicide.  No, it wasn't right.  Then again, is any homicide, ever right?  Done and done!  Ta-da!!!

Ok, so pity party was the wrong choice of words, I meant......like.........erm.................I just couldn't figure out all the "GENIE CALL ME IF YOU NEED ANYTHING" hoopla??!!!  What could she possibly need?  This is Genie we're talking about.  She's a very strong-minded individual whom I picture saying, "What the f@ck??!!" but not getting emotionally or psychologically damaged from it!  I think she's gone through far worse.

To me, Genie's the type to say, "That's f@cked up", evaluate it, and then just move on.

meh

OMG, so sorry to hear this! Altough he wasn't related to you, just the fact that you had to experience this is enough to make you so upset. Just like LB said, if you need anything, let me know. I'm a phone call away. The fact that there is a "killer" on the lose, should make you think about moving from that building!
