hmmm... you're right Buffy... life is funny that way and we chug along doing what we have to do to make ends meet. It just sucks. Whatever... stupid interview bummed me out.
@DC, I guess it's also the attitude one has towards the situation. If I step into something thinking I'm going to hate it, then I've already knocked off the opportunity to possibly enjoy it.
DATS A GOOD QUESTION AND U RESPONDED WITH A B.S. ANSWER BUT IS WT SHE WANTED TO HEAR. U NEVER KNOW, MAYBE YOU START 2 LIKE DA INDUSTRY LATER ON. I GOT INTERVIEWED 5 YRS AGO IN AN INDUSTRY DAT I THOUGHT I WILL ONLY BE FOR A FEW MONTHS UNTIL I FOUND SOMETHING ELSE. WELL, GUESS WT??? I LOVE IT AND IT MADE ME LOTS OF MONEY. I HATED IT THEN, NOW IS MY PASSION AND IT OPENED SO MANY DOORS FOR ME.
Hey everyone.... so I just came back from an interview and I was asked a question that, at the time, didn't stump me. I answered the question and the interview continued but now after the fact got me thinking. So, the company is looking for a long term commitment from someone that isn't going to leave in 2 years. So the lady asked me, do you see yourself doing this in the long term? Simple question, simple answer YES... but after thinking about it, the real answer is NO! I hate the field I'm in but don't know what field I would get into.
SO, my question is, how did you know you wanted to do whatever it is that you're doing now in your career? What things helped you make up your mind?
I think 98% of us are not really doing what we set out to do in the first place, even those who work in their field. Como dice Lisandro, los caminos de la vida no son como imaginaba. And life is funny that way: it'll lead you places that you wouldn't consciously be driven to.
If you don't want to be in that field, why not jump to a different one or ease yourself into something different, like, gradually? To tell you the truth, my job is just that, a job. I enjoy it, but I don't see myself doing this long term. I try to do what I really like doing outside of work hours (or during... ), which I knew I wanted to do since I was 8 or 9.
