The time delayed posting function did NOT work on this foro… It was not meant to be posted till 12:01 am… ohh well… you’re right!
I am ALWAYS wrong!
there's a posting time delay thingy?!?!?! how do you do that?!?!? Not that I should really ask you, considering it doesn't seem to work very well for you but ya, How'd Ju Do That?!
It's a secet, so don't tell anyone... the way it works:
You get a message READY the same way you normally would to create a posting...
... then you just WAIT till the moment you want it to appear, and THEN you click on SUBMIT!
You're welcome.

meh... I'm neither here nor there on the issue. The problem lies always in the editing of a show. The producers can make the nicest person be the antagonist simply by editing. I think the producers will have to be extremely careful to not follow stereotypes of certain races and respectfully show each competitor (whether they be white, black or pink) in a subjective light.
I'm definitely tuning in (but I was going to either way)
I don't like the idea, I think it will bring "discordia" and that everything little issue will be taking as a racist problem (even when not intended), by the participant, the public and the media.
Creo que sera MUY contra producente.

2 people, from whatever race, can not possibly represent all of the other people in the world who also belong to that race and, thus, those two people's performance can not be equalled to "their race's".
2 million people, from whatever race, can not possibly represent all of the other people in the world who also belong to that race and, thus, not even those 2 million people's performance can not be equalled to "their race's".
That is why I was telling you, I find it absurd to claim that it's now a matter of which race performs better.
So why are the network honchos doing it, anyways?
Because they know it works.
Oh, so did Hitler. His jewish/gipsy/gay/disabled genocide DID start from the most elementary racist scratch: "THEY are strange, THEY are dangerous, THEY are to be pointed at". After that, as they say, it was The Holocaust.
Race means $hit unless you/me/they/us make it so. Sometimes it is a personal option, sometimes it is an organized effort. As for being a personal option -I don't know about you, but there're so many sad strikes in me, including some attitudes that I know are racist and which I'm working on leaving behind. And, as for being an organized effort....
By no means I'm comparing whoever is the publicity whore behind the Survivor thing with Hitler and Co. I don't even know him/her/them. But assuming that race teams will make any difference is essentially consenting to the same logic that has brought us every kind of discrimination we've known.
Race means $hit unless you make it so.
As for whether gender competition makes sense to me... this far down the road in the human evolution, it's still fair to say that male and female human beings differ in ways that go far beyond what people from different races could differ one from another.
I think it would be interesting to watch. It's something different and i would love to see each race survival skills!
Bellini... may I suggest that, you wouldn't be looking at "races"?
You'd be looking at PEOPLE.
And this is no heart bleeding liberal plead, but rather an attempt to point out what I believe is obvious. Or would the fact that YOU have NO idea, ability or strength whatsoever with how to (fill in with your own field of total lack of expertise, ability or strength) imply that, maybe, latina women (or women from whatever ethnicity you may be) are also really, really bad at it?
Wow, not sure how you got that from my comment but NO i didn't imply what you just said. You are right, we would be watching people from different races! But it would be a different approach to "Survivor" and to a certain extent, it would be interesting to watch each races survival skills. Nothing wrong with that.

So the show producers decided this time to divide the tribes along racial and ethnicity lines: Blacks, asians, latinos and whites. GM has pulled their sponsorship of the show and claim that it had nothing to do with the controversy.
Personal Opinion - I think its great! Honestly People are putting too much emphises on the word RACE! I think it will be interesting to see what Ethenticity comes out on top!
