It depends but i usually go and buy some books when I am almost done with the ones I am reading. Which make me think that I have to go back to Indigo because I just have one right now and I am half way through it already.
I rarely borrow books since not many pple I know read, it reminds me of myself 5 years back or so

That's what i do. I also tend to buy books that get good ratings. I try to keep my mini library filled with only 'good reads'.

I seriously could not enjoy it. @ Chale: A fine balance is on my To Read list. For the book club thingy we should get some hispanic writers. I'll give you guys some choices later on today, but if you can think of anything, let me know.

You have a "To read" list? How big a nerd are you? I just do an eeny meany off my bookshelf, works fine for me.

If you're gonna read hispanic literature, please, please make sure it's in Spanish. What's the point otherwise? Also, please pick Julio Cortázar, that way I'm still in.

Regarding the main topic, I've got a new new book too!! I have a habit of starting more than one book. So this is my bedtime book (nonfiction): War is a Force that Gives Us Meaning. It's very interesting, never thought I'd like nonfiction and the best thing is that I got it for less than a buck! Woohoo!!

So i decided to give it a try. Have any of you read it? I'm reading The Devil wears Prada now (which isn't THAT great), which i'm almost done and needed new material. Ah! A thread worth replying to... what's going on here??? My fellow geek, I started reading A Million Little Pieces to see what all the hoopla was about, and let me tell you, James Frey's pants must be on fire!!! I guess it makes a difference knowing that the whole story was a fake in how you view the book. It's a good read, but I'm not too impressed now that I know what I know. There's a couple other books I want to read this summer. Chale & Lahtina, we should do the book club thingy once again. I'll bring you some choices...

BUFFSTERS BACK!!!!!! Oh how i missed thee!!!!
You better never go away or else someone is gonna get a hurt... and you might know her

Anywaaaays, Im down for a book club meeting.... just as long as its not by that lady whos name shall not be written b/c her book was so crappy that i refuse to even acknowledge it.
Currently, Im reading "White Teeth" by Zadie Smith, Im half way done, so I should be able to pick up a new book by August.

@ Buffy and Lahtina: I would suggest you guys read "A Fine Balance" by Mistry Rohinton... OMG soooo good!

ps. Im not a geek... just a nerd in geeks clothing
Its a bit long, but soooo worth the read!

Oh oh oh, I loooooooooooooove that book. It's one of the funniest, bestest books I've ever read. The author committed suicide and he never saw his one and only book get published, can you believe it? His mom is the one who was knocking doors trying to get her dead son's book picked up by an editorial (editorial? whatever!) and of course no one wanted to even look at it because... yeah, right.. "it's really good" says who? Mommy? Someone did eventually read it though and it got published! It won the Pulitzer in... errrrr '69 was it? 83 was it? 70 something?! Bah! Damn mem'ry! Anyway, the point is it's a Pulitzer prize. Oh and some critics say it's a modern day Don Quixote.
I'm sure you'll enjoy it. It has plenty of LOL moments. I give it a I kinda hated Ignatius Reilly though... ugh, he got on my nerves! Good stuff tho'.

To long and complex to tell but here is what I found. I promise, it is an amazing book :almost1000pagesandsmallprintsitisgoingtotakemeforever:

Shantaram is the fictionalized account of the real life adventures of author Gregory David Roberts. The narrator is a man called Lin, escaped from an Australian jail and arriving in Bombay, India with a fake New Zealand passport. He immediately meets a taxi driver named Prabaker who gives him tours of the city and a hut in the local slum. Lin starts a free clinic for the people in the slum, and to provide for his own income, he sells drugs to tourists. This gets him the attention of the local gangsters, and he's increasingly pulled into their world of crime, from counterfeiting to gun running to passport schemes. Lin falls in love, nearly dies in an Indian prison, and survives a continuing series of adventures. More than just an account of drugs and crime, Shantaram is the story of a man who, even in a life of violence, genuinely loves those in his life and the city that became his home, Bombay. Shantaram has received positive reviews with The Telegraph saying, "Shantaram is an exuberant, swashbuckling story of derring-do, told with reckless gusto and obvious affection, and if Roberts is no sort of stylist (and he isn't), you'd have to be a snob not to admit to enjoying yourself."

This one looks interesting, the first few pages remind me of another book named : Blueprint. Something along those lines, it's about the workings of the DNA sequence. Interesting stuff. i'll have to check it out.

I have read Juventud en extasis,.and another one that i don't rememeber the name,. like 8 yrs ago,. now I want to read them all again,. and his new book about Drugs,..

Also another book that I might not read it ,.but would like to read the reviews is the "Burnt toast",. escrito por (no me acurdo el nombre) actress from Desperate house wives show,.

@Buffy- Yes i saw that book (A million little pieces) but i honestly lost interest in it once i found out the mess of it. I tend to get books that make the best seller lists or even the ones with the awards and reader's choice. Did you read it before or after he said it was a lie?

Which other books are you interested in reading?

@Genie--you are a loser for considering yourself one only because you read. LOSER! Readers are not loser ok .
Anyway, i'll read some reviews on the one you're reading...for future consideration.

@MJ--chicken soup books are the best! i had one 'for the woman's soul' or something like that, and i passed it down to my sister. They are very inspiring and heart warming stories.
