I finished reading Vivir Para Contarla, Garcia Marquez'eseses autobiography and then I moved on to Paula, which is sort of Isabell Allende's autobiography... that happened sin querer queriendo, but I'm fascinated by these people's weird and colourful lives.

I think I'm gonna start readng more biographies now... idea

It's soooo inspiring. Anyway, I highly recommend both. thumbsup.gif

What Dogo failed to mention was that he's reading it in Swedish. Yup, he was too modest.

And yes, I am his keeper.

Anyway just wantd to share my experience... Have you guys read it yet? What did you guys think?

I got it from the library a while back, but in English, and after a few pages I gave up on it. I can't read Garcia Marquez in English. That's sacrilege. Anyway, never got it in Spanish, but I'd like to.

Right now I'm reading Harry Potter. The last book. Never watched the movies (or tried, but I fell asleep every time) and never read any of the other books, but I want to know how it all ends. So far, so good. Not spectacular, but okay. shrug.gif

Anyway, my sister's keeper is about:
(As per an Amazon Reviewer).

Anna was genetically engineered to be a perfect match for her cancer-ridden older sister. Since birth, the 13-year-old has donated platelets, blood, her umbilical cord, and bone marrow as part of her family's struggle to lengthen Kate's life. Anna is now being considered as a kidney donor in a last-ditch attempt to save her 16-year-old sister. As this compelling story opens, Anna has hired a lawyer to represent her in a medical emancipation suit to allow her to have control over her own body. Picoult skillfully relates the ensuing drama from the points of view of the parents; Anna; Cambell, the self-absorbed lawyer; Julia, the court-appointed guardian ad litem; and Jesse, the troubled oldest child in the family. Everyone's quandary is explicated and each of the characters is fully developed. There seems to be no easy answer, and readers are likely to be sympathetic to all sides of the case. This is a real page-turner and frighteningly thought-provoking. The story shows evidence of thorough research and the unexpected twist at the end will surprise almost everyone.

yeap that is what it was called.... remember I told you I could't find it anywhere... they don't have it around Kitchener, I tried two libraries and nothig.... I am still looking for it.... so hmm

Ok, I finished reading "I Know This Much Is True".

I'm SO sad that it's over yet relieved with the outcome.

Now can someone (Guada or Buffy) explain to me the thing with the bunnies at the end?  Where he sees Prosperine and asks for her forgiveness?

I've been getting financially educated in the past few weeks.
What I've read so far:
1) Rich Dad, poor dad: what the rich teach their kids about money that the poor and middle class do not.
2) Rich woman: a book on investing for women
3) The Wealthy Barber

And I have like 7 more lined up. My summer's gonna be busy!!!

But I'll still find the time to read The Birth House... I wanna read that one. ashamed

@ MJ.. yip.. i agree with you wholeheartedly... i honestly enjoyed reading the Mitch Albom books. Both made me tear up... gave me the warm and fuzzies and does make you look at your loved ones and your own life in a different way. I still haven't read Tuesdays with Morrie... maybe once I'm done My Sister's Keeper.

My Sister's Keeper is about a girl who was genetically engineered so that she could be the perfect bone marrow match to save her sister's life. her sister is dying from leukemia. now that she is getting older (13) she is questioning her parents love for her and the real reason they brought her into this world.. so she's asked to be medically emancipated from her parents. Hmm.. i feel like i'm killing it by explaining it this way... here's the Chapter's synopsis:

"Anna is not sick, but she might as well be. By age thirteen, she has undergone countless surgeries, transfusions, and shots so that her older sister, Kate, can somehow fight the leukemia that has plagued her since childhood. The product of preimplantation genetic diagnosis, Anna was conceived as a bone marrow match for Kate - a life and a role that she has never questioned until now. Like most teenagers, Anna is beginning to question who she truly is. But unlike most teenagers, she has always been defined in terms of her sister - and so Anna makes a decision that for most would be unthinkable a decision that will tear her family apart and have perhaps fatal consequences for the sister she loves. My Sister's Keeper examines what it means to be a good parent, a good sister, a good person. Is it morally correct to do whatever it takes to save a child's life even if that means infringing upon the rights of another? Is it worth trying to discover who you really are, if that quest makes you like yourself less?"

What i'm enjoying about the book but also annoys me about the book is that each chapter is narrated by a different character so you get into the mind of the characters and how they see things as they are unfolding. It's very good. I've only read about a quarter of the book but so far.. me likey thumbsup.gif

I CRIED with "Tuesdays with Morrie"!!!!  tears.gif  crying.gif  ashamed.gif  Hurry up and read it.

Wow!  Thanks!!!  thumbsup.gif  "My Sister's Keeper" look interesting.  Hmmm....I saw it in the bookstore but it didn't catch my eye.  Another hmmmm.......we shall see, we shall see.
