so the phone is not that smart eh how's the performance of the phone using WEP ? because you don't really need it as far u use MAC filtering.
lol... shuddup!!! leave my phone out of this!
last time I listened to you and your MAC filtering business NONE of my computers would connect to the network!
eta: the wifi on the phone is pretty good. Id say about same of my laptop as far as the range. Only thing is that it drains the battery after about 25 minutes.

Phanta what kind of router do you have i.e linksys,3com ect... it could be tha your settings or drivers are not properly set up. At my house I use a Linksys G with booster and it sits on one of the rooms upstairs, when I go down to the basement I can still get a Strong signal, I added a booster and now I can sit outside with no problem, mind you that I also have a few computers running at the same time and the signal is pretty good
Right now Im using the wLan modem from Bell.. its a Siemens Speedstream DSL modem with built in wireless.
I also have a D-Link AirPlus Xtreme G router wich I cant hook up.
I have 64WEP enabled right now cause my smartphone doesnt support 128bit.-- Edited by Phantasma at 13:30, 2006-07-20

When you set up your wireless device don't forget to lock it down, from experience I had many costumers that forget to do this and then the run into alot of problems like giving free internet and hackers. just a word of cuasion. Buzz Cheaper option....get an antenna with higer Db levels
Better yet get a coat hanger and attach it to your self everytime you are going to use your laptop

After that you need your computers to have a wireless adapter. If u bought a laptop less than 3 years ago chances are it has the adapter (receiver) already in it.
Im trying to hook up my PC wirelessly thats why I need the adapter so my house doesnt look like a John Fogerty video.

Wireless USB adapters provide mobile workers with a compact and easily carried way to enable their laptops to connect to wireless networks. Another advantage to wireless USB adapters is they can be swapped between laptops and desktops quickly and easily. If you need to enable your laptop for wireless connectivity, a wireless USB adapter is a great solution.
I guess you need to subscribe to a wireless plan or be in a hotspot, right?

I would leave the USB for bluetooth connectivity...
