Oh yes i've heard of it, but if i'm going to be paying for a little label that changes color i rather go about it the old fashion way, if 4 pears and a tag will cost me $15 i say KEEP IT!
I guess....
But just 'cause the technology is relatively new. I'm sure that in the long run it will be common practice on all produce.
Yes and yes.

I forget the name of the company that sells them. But you buy the pears in a pack of four...and it comes with this label.
Apperantly it catches the scent that is given off by the pear...and it can tell when it's best to eat.
The same company is trying this application for avocados, melons, peaches, etc....

To check firmness of apples, peaches, pears, tomatoes, mangos, avocados, oranges, onions...i tenderly squeeze, i tend to smell the peaches to see if they'll be sweet.
Watermelon i hit it with the palm of my hand, entre mas soplada se escuche, the better it is, i also check the usuall yellow spot they have, entre mas amarilla mas rojita.
The only thing i poke would be the bread, to see if it's fresh, i hate hard bread.
Algo asi.

well it depends on what your buying for example if your buying watermelon u tap it if its hollow then its good and ripe!! if your buying a cantalope then u smell the culito and squeeze it!!
I heard that also works with monkeys. Or is it tapping?
