I love boxing/muay thai, and I don't even notice it... it's just fun! But it could be anything else. Just choose an intense sport that you enjoy.
I do agree with you. I haven’t been a sports person, but since I start to practice boxing and yoga I have been able to stick with these for months. I do it once a week for one hour and a half, and the time flies without being notice. For me something that drive me to work out is notice changes on my body and the feeling of well-being after exercise myself. To avoid laziness I paid in advance my classes, and I take my sports wear to go to the gym right after work.
I mean, for me, I truly love the violence. The "bang". It's great! I enjoy the sport itself, while I do it.... the punching and kicking... damn! It's really cool.
I've always found running or lifting weights rather boring, though I did it for years. At any rate, doing any kind of exercise is better than none at all.
Do whatever suits you!
Ok, on a serious note, I did learn to grapple waaaaaaaaaay back in the day. I HATED the warm up but the actual grappling was fun and the same with taekwondo, hated the warm up but sparring was awesome. I agree, weights are sooooo boring.
@ Dogo:
I went to a couple of grappling/jiu-jitsu/krav-maga classes, but never really got into it. That being said, I can definitely see the value in it.... I guess I'm just more of a striker.
At any rate, exercise is more about consistency... seeing results is a long term affair. And it's much easier to get there if you do something you love.

Same with me, with poker... I don't even notice I'm working out

Who says I don't enjoy running? My motivation is trying to run further and faster - beating my own personal records (I'm such a Nazi) but sometimes it's just hard to get out there.
Do you truly like it?

BOOOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOOOOO cry me a river!!! How about you try a don't know how many pound baby, another 3 pound placenta and all kinds of extra fluid in your stomach Now that is some serious work to get rid of Lahtina you are strange you look great!! Last time I saw you I think you looked thinner than the empanada challenge. You look good so shut up. Yeah try eating a watermelon whole and then come talk to me If your scars are bugging you get one of those super cute surf shorts and a cute bikini top. I think you look good and if you loose too much more then you are going to be too thin. Just try your best to get a work out in at least three times a week. You need to maintian I don't think you need to loose.
And that is exactly why I am terrified of getting pregnant. I used to have a list of reasons NOT to get pregnant, actually. Although, I would like to have a baby... someday. I think. No, I'm not sure, really. Maybe not. I should look into the surrogate mother thingy. :P

That's true, I have hurt my knees a couple of times but that was at the beginning. When your muscles are weak, you're looking at a lot of injuries; I think it's what detracts people from running: injuries. Overall, though, I'd say my joints are stronger. I have twisted my ankles to extreme points and no injury (knock on wood ) And before, everytime I kneeled, me knees would crack; I hated that. Now, because my leg muscles are stronger, my knees don't crack.
I would love to go rollerblading. And swimming? Pfft, don't get me started, I love it! I'm kinda sucky at it but I love it. So jogging is what's readily available and FREE!! Me loooooves free stuff.
@ Genie, hmmm... I dunno about buying smaller sizes, I honestly don't see myself going any smaller. This is me limit - it's me bones - they're thick (bastards!).

the other avatar was poking the eye, I wonder what this one's poking... @ Julie: You're not a bad example at all! Just get Lahtina to dance with you every time you guys go out... you'll drop 40 pounds in one night, the way you can't stop dancing, girl! I think the best motivation is to do things in groups. I have my whole set up in my basement and I think I've exercised three or four times (and I'm exaggerating threefold). There's just no motivation. I see these suburban groups out jogging in the evening, and before I used to make fun of them, but now I'm like, "should I just joing and shut up?" They look motivated enough. -- Edited by TV Buff at 08:28, 2006-05-26
Humm, I don't think so, I should for lessons first and see if I can loose those F@&%ing EXTRA poundsssssssssssss since I am not doing any effort on the food side

I did something similar but I didn't buy new clothes.. I had an old pair of pants that are a couple inches smaller in the waist. I kept promising myself I'd lose the pounds to fit back in them again, what happened? They sat in my drawer for yeeeearrrs. But last summer I lost enough weight to fit back in them again but I had already donated them to charity at that point.... plus they were probably out of style.

talking about bikini's..i never wear one..i dont like my body...i have big calfs and i hate it...u never see me n a dress or skirt either...i bought my first bikini last weekend and it wasnt even really a bikini..it was the bathing suit with the shorts and tank top sorta thingy,,,so it covers my belly...
I have not worked out since I started working and I'm determined to make this afternoon the first one that I hit the trail. But I'm soooooooo not motivated, so tired, been having crappy rest. Sometimes you're just all pumped to workout and then end up doing something else entirely different *cough* MJ *cough*. How do you just muster up the energy to go out and DO something? I tried to eat as light as possible, kinda hard when you have fat food for dinner (KFC). For those worker outters, what drives you?

Never in my life have I worn a bikini! Wait, when I was 7 I had a bikini. I have a birthmark on my left thigh and a scar on my right thigh that I'm very self-conscious of. But that's not it, I have a stupid pot belly, ugh!
Me neither... do you see me crying about it?? NO!

shuddup! You so do not! Youre one hot mexican thats for shizzle
Girl trust me, you have nothing to worry about, you'll look good in a bikini. Maybe you just need a bit more activity in your life, but youre soooo not in need of a new body or anything like that.
Oh man........I started going to the gym 2 weeks ago. And I know myself and knew that I was going to need lots of motivation, so I got a personal trainer for 2 months...So I HAVE TO GO!!! and when I go I do work my A$$ off. It's sooo painful, but man...at the end of it I feel sooo good about myself...
So, Afro, do personal trainers really make a difference?
get yourself on a work out routine... even if its just 2-3 times a week. After about a months time, you'll see it comes as second nature. However, if its motivation to get TO the gym and DO something there, you need some sort of goal... be it a hot new outfit, a wickedazz bikini, that new sleazy top... whatever... Just get your azz there!!! Once youre there you'll see that time flies by.
