I do agree with you. I haven’t been a sports person, but since I start to practice boxing and yoga I have been able to stick with these for months. I do it once a week for one hour and a half, and the time flies without being notice. For me something that drive me to work out is notice changes on my body and the feeling of well-being after exercise myself. To avoid laziness I paid in advance my classes, and I take my sports wear to go to the gym right after work.

I mean, for me, I truly love the violence. The "bang". It's great! I enjoy the sport itself, while I do it.... the punching and kicking... damn! It's really cool.

I've always found running or lifting weights rather boring, though I did it for years. At any rate, doing any kind of exercise is better than none at all.

Do whatever suits you!

Ok, on a serious note, I did learn to grapple waaaaaaaaaay back in the day. I HATED the warm up but the actual grappling was fun and the same with taekwondo, hated the warm up but sparring was awesome. I agree, weights are sooooo boring.

@ Dogo:

I went to a couple of grappling/jiu-jitsu/krav-maga classes, but never really got into it. That being said, I can definitely see the value in it.... I guess I'm just more of a striker.

At any rate, exercise is more about consistency... seeing results is a long term affair. And it's much easier to get there if you do something you love.

Who says I don't enjoy running? My motivation is trying to run further and faster - beating my own personal records (I'm such a Nazi) but sometimes it's just hard to get out there.

That's true, I have hurt my knees a couple of times but that was at the beginning. When your muscles are weak, you're looking at a lot of injuries; I think it's what detracts people from running: injuries. Overall, though, I'd say my joints are stronger. I have twisted my ankles to extreme points and no injury (knock on wood ) And before, everytime I kneeled, me knees would crack; I hated that. Now, because my leg muscles are stronger, my knees don't crack.

I would love to go rollerblading. And swimming? Pfft, don't get me started, I love it! I'm kinda sucky at it but I love it. So jogging is what's readily available and FREE!! Me loooooves free stuff.

@ Genie, hmmm... I dunno about buying smaller sizes, I honestly don't see myself going any smaller. This is me limit - it's me bones - they're thick (bastards!).

Even though I've always been on the heavier side......My weight tends to fluxuate very rapidly. I can drop 20 lbs just as easily as I put it back on.

Right now I'm the heaviest I've ever been......and I'm seriously feeling the effects of the extra weight.

The whole gym/workout motivation thing is the hardest.

Once I start.....I'll go for months non-stop.....but the ONE DAY I miss it.......that's it.

Won't go back for months.   Why is that?!?!?!?

AAAAWWWWRRRGGGG!!!!!

I did something similar but I didn't buy new clothes.. I had an old pair of pants that are a couple inches smaller in the waist. I kept promising myself I'd lose the pounds to fit back in them again, what happened? They sat in my drawer for yeeeearrrs. But last summer I lost enough weight to fit back in them again but I had already donated them to charity at that point.... plus they were probably out of style.
