Interesting thread! I used to be much more in the scene than I am these days for obvious reasons so I'll talk about my experiances back then. I agree over the years there have been some memorable nights at different clubs...some of them wicked rammed up nights and some of them crappy. I had a lot of good times thanks to some good promoters back in the day. Now this does not mean for a second that they are all worthy of a handshake! Should I shake the hand of promoter that took advantage of tons of people while his bank account got nice and big...nope. How about the one that ran that slammin club with his coke money...nope! There have been and still are some decent promoters in the latin scene and sure they are worthy of a hand shake. The ones who strive to promote true talent. The ones who are honest. Still it's not like this is a job that people do for free. It's not like it's charity to the latin community. It's not like people don't pay to get into to clubs and concerts. They should in fact be thankful because the people in the community are the ones keeping their buissness alive. I am more thankful to the artists in this community. The men/woman who have real passion. The ones who will do a gig for next to nothing because the music is what drives them. The ones who aren't doing what they do for a fast buck. Now they deserve a handshake.
Chilenita...
I really feel like crap now because we haven't met yet...but those are words of a true supporter! I'd love to meet you finally one day and give you thanks in person girl!
This subject is too deep and I don't have the energy to write an essay. Money is money...it comes and goes. One's passion for something that gives them drive and inspiration is something that stays forever in you. I know many people who are broke yet happy because their interest is not in the money, but in their passion for their trade. THOSE are the ones that can truly inspire others. We're all gonna die one day...and it ain't money that's going to the other side with us...

all i am trying to say is..... with the same love and appreciation you guys give artists, i feel we should get the same love too. We work just as hard at our passion as they do. When things go good we thank our people and supporters and when things go wrong we feel the same hurt and pain. They are in this to make money the same way we are. I aint going to sit here and beg for it but it just why would you not atleast show us some appreciation when we are doing our thing the same way everyone else is

There is a lot of hate towards promoters from a small percentage of people in the latin scene. . This hate can start from many reasons resulting from bad business experiences both direct and indirect. Latinos love to gossip and rumors get spread and that's when you get a lot of the drama you see that ends up on this forum. The bottom line is promoters are not something new and have been around for the longest time imagine all the great memories you would have missed out if there were no promotion companies
Berlin tuesdays

This is just a small list of events
some people hate us inside but praise us when things go good and most night club owners were promoters at the beginning
