your Colombian friend should contact Tony Soprano... he has a way of "fixing" problems!

my consejo:  get that woman's name - get in contact with her manager, supervisor.... work up the leader as far as she can within the Ministry of Transportaion itself.  Hopefully he has copies (of license and/or the letter from the embassy stating it is a legitimate license!)

Ok, I have a question for you guys. But first here is the story.   I know a woman from Colombia and her husband is trying to get his Canadian drivers license in order. So he went to the take the test and first of all, they ask him to provide a letter from the Embassy starting that his Colombian license is legitimate and not a fake. Well, I never heard that this was part of the process and never knew an immigrant, from any country that needed to provide this kind of paper. Once he got his letter, he went back to the office and the lady told him “no Sir, this is a fake”, even with the letter, took his Colombian license and destroyed it ! So the guy was like, QEF, why did you do that ? Well, I told you, your license is a fake……and they went on like that for a while, so he cold the police and they said that the women should have done that and that if he wanted to file a complain, to go down to the station and do so. He went and there, he was told that there is nothing they could do for him and that he needed to go to the transit/transportation office, so the poor man goes there and he is been told that there is nothing they can do for him because it is not a Gov. agency ! Since when the drivers license office is not a governmental agency ? No need to say that he is pretty desperate and hurt in his pride because his license was real and that even the Embassy validated it.   So my question to you is, who/which will the right person/place to contact or to go to ?   Well, I would say, go to the Consul and try to move your case through her, contact the press, etc…   Anyone heard about similar cases ?

First off he should get a lawyer a good one and file a complaint with his embassy and then the Ministry of Transportation!! If his liscense was real and the embassy had signed and sealed a paper stating so then they just violated his rights and even worse destroyed personal property so he has a case to not only get his drivers license but also fight for his rights!
