Just like Colo, I thought she was in remission.....pobrecita!


She was nothing special as an artist and I hate to say it but her sickness played in her favour at times.....regardless I hope she rests in peace


And we've all heard that the good ones are the ones to leave us sooner....

OMG it's true, pobrecita :(   ...doesn't it feel like all the good ppl on earth are leaving us behind? I mean look at Soraya, talented, intelligent, beautiful... I personally think that was her mission here on earth, to create awareness on cancer, how else can you explain it? Look at Cristopher Reeve's wife, intelligent, loyal, beautiful, perfect wife, she stuck by her husband till the last minute, created awareness, created different foundations, changed the laws, etc and she also passes away only two years after her husband (superman). I think it could be a sign of our last days? or am i being too extreme? I mean how else do you explain it?   Hügø¹²

OMG, no lo puedo creer.  I thought she was in remission, I`m very surprised to hear this.  Que en paz descanse.  She had such a beautiful voice.

Murió la cantante colombiana Soraya

Tenía cáncer en un seno desde hacía 6 años. Y pese a que se lo habían extirpado, le generó complicaciones de salud hasta que ayer le causó la muerte. Su mayor éxito fue la canción “De repente”, a mediados de los ’90. Hoy hubiera cumplido 37 años.


La noticia fue dada a conocer hoy por el sello EMI, que editaba los discos de la artista. Soraya había realizado giras con estrellas como Alanis Morissette, Michael Bolton y Sting. Pero en 2000, cuando tenía 31 años, le descubrieron la misma enfermedad que había acabado con la vida de su madre, una abuela y una tía materna, lo que la llevó a hacer un receso en su carrera.

Desde entonces, la cantautora lideraba grupos de lucha contra el cáncer de seno y recorría el mundo para hablar con mujeres latinas acerca de la necesidad de exploraciones preventivas y del cuidado regular de las mamas. Una mastectomía –extirpación quirúrgica de toda la mama– la liberó temporalmente del mal, pero en el último tiempo había sufrido una recaída.

La artista dejó una carta en la que se despide de sus fans: “Mi historia física puede llegar a su fin, pero estoy segura que la que existe en el corazón de ustedes seguirá presente por la eternidad”, dice. Y agrega: “Ahora les toca a ustedes seguir con nuestra misión. Deseo de corazón contagiarles mi amor a la vida y que seas tú un canal que lleve a mucha gente este mensaje que puede salvarles la vida”.

Soraya recibió en 2004 un premio Grammy y el galardón “Espíritu de Esperanza”, de los Billboard latinos, por su labor humanitaria. Ese año también estuvo nominada a cuatro categorías de los premios Ritmo Latino: mejor solista latina, disco latino, video y canción latina del año, por su tema “Casi”.
