How do you confuse Russian for El Salvadorian or vice versa don't they look obviously different? I on the other hand am Swedish... ok, half, my mother is from Finland.

Sweetie I'm just using that as an example. They could be from where ever. You could confuse them hun, because some people can be mixed, and trust me a white person can make themselves look like a Latino from El Salvador, Chile, or where ever. How you ask...well going to tanning salons, dying their hair a darker colour, wearing coloured contact lenses, learning how to speak Spanish and so on. There are certain white people that can look or seem Latino when they're really not. I know a chick who goes around telling people she's Puerto Rican and she's really from the Ukraine. Trust me this girl looks Latina, because she goes to tanning salons and dyed her hair brown. She also piles on make up...I guess to further cover up the fact that she's white and not Latina. Before her transformation she was as pale as a lab rat and her hair was as yellow as the sun. She's obbsesed with trying to be a Latina. Whatever that's her, but I'm just giving you an example. So yes you can confuse a white person for a Latino person. My best friend is from Serbia, and many people have confused her for being Hispanic when she got a tan, and now they don't because her tan is gone. Some of my family members have green eyes and light skin complextion, and many people have confused them for being white, when they're really not, and they're from Guatemala and El Salvador...so there you go.

Do any of you have friends or know people who lie about where they are from?...Meaning their background. For example they're really Russian, but they go around telling people that they're Puerto Rican.
How would you feel if someone who was close to you told you that he/she was from El Salvador for the period of 4 years let's say, and then you come to find out that he/she really isn't from there and isn't Hispanic at all, but Russian or whatever? Would you get mad, or would you just not care? Also why do you think some people lie about their background? Would you ever lie about where you are really from?
To answer my questions I would be mad, but not at the fact that they're really not Latino/a, or where they are really from...I would be mad at the fact that I was lied to this whole time, which would make me go hmmm, and wonder what else they were lying about. I think that people lie about their background, because they may feel ashamed of where they come from, or they want to fit in with a certain crowd. I would never lie about where I am from, because I am very proud to be Guatemalan/Salvadorian, and just being a Latina in general.
