Just to play devil's advocate here, the family had been given a deportation order back in February. If you don't obey, you're bound to be treated like a criminal, since you are in fact breaking the law. The way immigration did things was extreme, to say the least, but the parents shouldn't have exposed the kids to this. They should've left as soon as they were told to leave. They have a better chance of coming back if they do as they're told. Trust me.I know what I'm talking about.
good..... cuz I don't even know where I am right now...

Exactly. This is the $hit that pisses me off. They waste all this time and money deporting hard working immigrants putting countless hours in just to track them down while drug dealers are just chilling in their welfare homes with the Benz or BMW in the parking lot The government just does not have it's priorities straight. I know they are illigally here, but atleast they are working and doing something to better themselves.

It was an admittedly odd request at a deportation hearing – don’t send a family out of Canada until the school year ends.
It was a desperate delay advocates supporting a Costa Rican mother and her children were pleading with the government to grant, after their case set off alarm bells last month.
And it worked, after the government agreed to the request late Monday.
Their plight became a cause celebre when immigration officials came into Toronto's Dante Alighieri Academy in April and ordered two children out of class and their parents to come to the school to rescue them.
When their mother arrived, all were placed in an immigration detention centre, along with a 2-year-old sister and their grandparents.
A deal was reached late Monday that will see the mother released on a $3,000 cash bond.
The father will come out of hiding and turn himself in, then be released on a $2,000 bond.
The two teenaged children will be allowed to finish their school year before the family is required to depart.
It’s the latest twist in the long story of the Lizano-Soza family.
They first came here in 2001 and applied for refugee status. When they were turned down and didn’t show up for a February deportation flight, a warrant was issued for their arrest.
At least two MPs and other supporters took up their cause, claiming the feds’ get tough policy is ripping the family apart.
“We're a hardworking family, and ... we want them to look into their hearts and let us stay in this country,” pleads 14-year-old Kimberley Lizano-Sosa.
“We’re not here to harm anyone. Why should we go back? We’re just looking for a better and safer future.”
It’s one friends believe they won’t find back home.
“[It was a] family that was persecuted through gang violence in Costa Rica,” explains Sima Zerrahi of the group No One Is Illegal. “But they were also a poor family that was trying to make a better living for their kids.”
Her group staged a demonstration outside the deportation facility on Airport Road Monday, insisting an honest, hardworking family shouldn’t be thrown out of Canada.
Lawyer MacDonald Scott believes the Conservatives are taking too hard a line in this case.
“Our system has failed these people, and our system daily fails people from working and poor backgrounds because we have no process,” he complains. “We have no policy.
"We have no procedure for people to come into this country if they don't have money, if they don't have university degrees and if they don't have already provided jobs.”
The government isn’t completely unsympathetic to their plight, but notes the family knew it was coming here without the proper authorization and it’s not fair to the thousands on waiting lists trying to cross our borders with permission.
As part of the agreement, the family must buy their plane tickets for Costa Rica no later than July 2nd.

“We're outraged at this U.S.-style enforcement tactics that the Conservative government has been using against immigrant refugee and non-status communities since they've settled into power,” accuses the group's Sima Zerrahi.
“We're especially outraged that kids are being used as bait, that kids are being used as an outlet to target parents, and it's unacceptable. We want this stopped.”
The government isn’t completely unsympathetic to their plight, but notes the family knew it was coming here without the proper authorization and it’s not fair to the thousands on waiting lists trying to cross our borders with permission.
Scott is making a bond offer in hopes the mother will be granted bail at her detention review hearing on Tuesday.

COPIED and PASTED from Today's Toronto Sun: Pair pulled from Toronto high school, face deportation to Costa Rica TORONTO (CP) — A teenaged brother and sister facing deportation to Costa Rica pleaded with officials Monday to let them stay in Canada to complete their school year. “There are things (the Canada Border Services Agency) don’t understand,” Kimberly Lizano-Sossa, 15, said as she stood beside her brother Gerald, 14. “We’re a hard-working family and (we want officials) to look into their hearts and let us stay in this country, achieve our goals.” The teens were pulled out of their Toronto high school last month by immigration officials and put in a van with their mother, two-year-old sister and grandparents. Their father was at work at the time and faces an outstanding warrant. Immigration officials have offered to immediately remove either the father or mother to ensure the whole family will ultimately leave the country, but opposition MPs have said that is unacceptable. Kimberly, who along with her brother is back in school, said her mother’s continued detention has been hard on her baby sister. “My sister has been having a hard time trying to understand why she hasn’t seen my mom for more than a week already,” she said. Immigration consultant MacDonald Scott, who is representing the family, said they are asking for a small concession. “Just to let the two kids and their parents stay here until the end of June so they can complete their school year,” Scott said. “Even that is being met with resistance by the Canada Border Services Agency.” Two Liberal MPs — Andrew Telegdi and Borys Wrzesnewskyj — have offered to post bond so the family can remain in Canada until the school year is complete. Well, Well, Well, what is going on here now immigration is using the kids as targets to get the illegal people, this is so irrational, they shpuldn't mess with the kids

“Even that is being met with resistance by the Canada Border Services Agency.”
Two Liberal MPs — Andrew Telegdi and Borys Wrzesnewskyj — have offered to post bond so the family can remain in Canada until the school year is complete.
The family came to Canada as visitors in 2001 and filed a refugee claim, which was rejected. When they failed to show up for a deportation flight on Feb. 16, a warrant was issued.
