Because it looks like thay have few stages (since different artists are schedule @ the same time) but I don't see how, it's not that big. I guess you've been there in previous years, could you brief me on that ? they usually set up a large tent at nathan philips and a side stage next to it... also there's good music over lunch too... so it's a good place to go sit, have lunch and have a beer
Thanks Miguel, but I work to far from that but don't you need passes to enter, like your tickets to shows or something ? Do they close the Square with "barricades" ?
well nathan philips is outdoors... its a tent. so you can't get into the tent if you don't pay... (if it's for a pay concert).. but a lot of people also hang out on the outside of the tent and listen to the music for free

Motown Junkie wrote: Hence the reason why Daeveed is going!!!!!!!!!! No, no.....I'm just messing with him! But it's the type of music that you really have to have an open mind for. Actually......if you're into Miles Davis.........the later Miles where he was messing around with sounds and concepts.....then you might be into John Zorn.
What about the era when jazz first came out?? Any artist like that??

So I'm gonna claim pure ignorance on this one. I absolutely love jazz but I have no clue about artists. I only know the OBVIOUS, Miles Davis I actually booked a flight to New Orleans last year but then the hurricane happened which explains my open ticket! Looks like it's going to be San Diego!! (Thanks Genie ) ANYWAY, has anyone been to this festival before??? How much is it?? Which artists would you recommend to see?
MJ !!!!!!!!!!! did you actually read the thread before answering ?
My biggest confusion/concern is that the ToJazz web site is announcing a date for artist "X" (NFX)and that ticketmaster is announcing it for the next day.
I am going to give them a call later.

Yes I've heard them, and trust me....John Zorn is crazier.... He's into alternative ways of composing and directings, as well as random improvisation sections (solo or collective) which are supposed to be free from any musical pattern, and guided more by concepts like "the sound of a train breaking" and things like that...
