I saw that in El Sal a couple of years ago... I thought it was hilarious.
But I agree, remakes could never capture the same feel as the original. Even classic movies like "the 10 commandments", with all the technology that we have now, could never compare to the original.
Last night I saw a bit of the Mexican version of Betty La Fea. I could not stand it!!!! It bothered me. I saw the original Colombian version.....and that was funny as hell!!!! and then to see them try to redo it.....in a Mexican context.....SUCKED HAIRY LEG BIG TIME!! DAMN MESSICAN!!! I hare remakes period! They could never capture the charm of the original movie or series!
