i actually did my g test in toronto .. i dont know whats the big deal if u know how to drive it should be fine ... unless u do dumb things like dont stop at the stop sign , dont look ur mirrors , blind spots . I pass my g1 , g2 , g licensed in my first try and i was n t even a good driver back then ( i drove my dads car like 3 times before. Also something that may help is if you take the dirving school car ( with the big name on top ex.  toronto driver school) ....

Make sure you are sober!

And if you have a female instructer remember to stop short put your arm across her breasts.
She'll like the attention and allow you to pass.

HAHA!!!  I failed my G2 at that place!!  APPARENTLY you're supposed to YIELD at a yield sign!    Who knew?

Anyway, the yield sign is just outside of the complex on Keele and he SLAMMED the breaks.

Needless to say, I failed the moment I left!

P.S.:  On the day of the test, go an hour or so earlier… drive around the area to familiarize yourself with the hood, and the signs in the area… that way, you will know some of what is coming up (specially – hidden – stop signs, crossing signs, etc) when test time comes.

If it’s a female testing officer – bring her a little gift, show her some skin and offer to take her for lunch/dinner when her shift is over… you’ll ACE it!

If it’s a guy, just talk sports and offer bring a 6-pack of cold ones – open it up just as you enter the highway and just tell him it usually helps you relax while driving… He’ll appreciate the alchohol and pass you!

Either that – or follow all the other boring advice you getting from people above!

@Bainaman - (Good point stated from Genie) When driving on streets always look left, straight, and right when passing any intersection.  When driving on any street.  Make sure your always on the right lane.

- When getting off or going onto 401 make sure you're aware where is the North, South entrance and when exiting the 401/404 make sure you look at the signs when getting off.  They might say "get off the highway and head South on <whatever street name>".

- Just before you get in the car, walk around the vechicle check if anything is in your way, look around just be aware of your surroundings like someone stated earlier.  As well pretend your adjusting your mirrors even tho you already have that locked in place.  Check sitting position.  Make sure always to set/release your emergency brake when parting or depaturing from take off.

- Signal look at mirrors and blind spots then merge into the lane always going a little bit faster. Do not decrease your speed.

- It's kiss arse tips that you require to know when driving.  Both hands on the wheel.  Look CONFIDENT, act RELAXED like you've been doing this all your life.

Good luck

If your already an experienced driver all you really have to do is be really aware of your surroundings when driving. I failed my first time taking the G test and they told me that my driving was perfect but I didn't look at my surrounding enought. They want you to check all mirrors every 5-8 seconds and look to your left and right even when your not turning.
Asides from that you have to just study the basics like parking, and knowing your speed limits on the 400 and 401 which are different.

@Bainaman - Take one of those crash 1hr courses from an instructor, note and pick up your do's and don'ts.

- After that take your test anywhere suitable for you.

- Drive like you've never driven before (slow and easy, look out for everything even the garbage on the ground).

If you've been driving ever since, you shouldn't have a problem.  Do what I did and book your test at Vic Park/Lawrence and schedule it for rush hour.  You'll jump on the DVP and not have to worry about gunning it or cutting off anyone.

They made me do a 3 point turn and reverse park into the spot back at the licensing office.  Fortunately, I didn't have to parallel park.  Also, that emergency roadstop I had to do.  When going through crosswalks, make sure your foot is hovering over the brake pedal.  Last but not least, when "flying" through intersections, as I was, make sure you at least attempt to look in both directions!!!

That's all I can remember.  Good luck!!!
