I also don't think owning an animal proves you're an animal lover. Have you seen how French girl treats her cats? I dunno, sometimes my love for animals worries ppl. Like when the whole hurricane Katrina thing happened, I was awed by the footage I saw on t.v. and I felt bad for the ppl but it wasn't until I saw the animals in trouble that I actually wanted to do something and so we donated to the Humane society. Homeless animals, animal cruelty and suffering always make cry and want to take action yet I can be pretty indifferent other humans experiencing pain. That is not to say that I have no empathy for other humans, I do have it but an instant empathy, like that which I have for animals, I can only have for the very young, the very old, the very sick or the very poor.
True ! I never had an animal when I was a kind because of my dad's asma and my allergies but I still loved them since the bigining. So I don't think you have to be raised with or without to love or hate them ! It's just the way you feel about them.
For those who lived in central or South America, and love those "little" things, I am sure that you will agree with me that more than once, se le han partido el corazon y se han sentido totalmente impotente

Anyhow to answer your question I also had a dog when i was a kid, once had a turtle, birds, even a baby chicken once. I don't see how that would make me love animals so much to care if they died, but again that's just me. I personally got rid of my own turtle put him on the street to get ranned over (he bit me, he earned it), my chicken was cute for maybe a day before he got on my nerves with his peo peo all day, so again left him outside & don't know/care what happened to him , my puppies well had so many & only kept them untill they grew out of pups (cute) & gave them away. So this really didn't change my heart or feelings towards any animal. Althou the ONLY animal I like & would actually have with me is a dog, the rest are useless.

No, I love animals but my parents wouldn't let me keep any pets. If I found a stray I'd want to take it in but my mom wouldn't let me. Once, I even freed a mouse from a mouse trap and had it in my pocket (yes, still alive) until my mom realized and she was like
