But here, besides going to church (and even that I'm not sure when it is that you're supposed to go to church - what's celebrated on Palm Sunday, for instance), what else is done to celebrate or maybe not celebrate, but honour? commemorate? observe these holidays? Anyway, I know whiteys do the egg hunt and don't some of them have turkey or something on the last Sunday? I really don't know, so can somebody enlighten me on the traditions of either canadians or hispanics who live here? With Big Top Sirlon and a Threesome.

ok, you can either google "holy week" or "semana santa" OR read the following.

Holy Week is also called Passion Week, since it remembers Jesus' entrance in Jerusalem, his last 5 days, his arrest, trial, torture, crucifixion and death.

Palm Sunday - Domingo de Ramos - entrance in Jerusalem

Maundy Thursday - Jueves Santo - institution of the Lord's Supper, Eucharist or Mass.

Good Friday - Passion and death.

Saturday - Jesus' body in the tomb, and disciples are all scared and have, of course, scattered all over the place.

Sunday - Women find an empty tomb.

After Easter Sunday - the disciples have a number of experiences of seeing, hearing and talking to -hech, even eating with- the risen Jesus.

Some time after that comes the feast of the ascension, then pentecost, then the feast of the trinity... until advent comes again, and then christmas, then epiphany, then lent again...

the christian year repeats itself every calendar year, starting on the closest sunday to nov. 30 -the feast of st. andrew- until the next year.

In hebrew usage, weeks end on saturdays -the seventh day to keep as the Lord's- and in christian usage, weeks end on sundays -the "new" seventh day to keep.

the only thing I do in Good Friday (out of respect) is not to play loud music and avoid meats....so it's usually veggies....

Well all I know back home we don't really celebrate the egg hunting, so really for us la semana santa comienza on thursday we don't eat meat until saturday, we usually have fish and we also go to church, we don't do much we stayed at home, with the family, but since I have my kid on Sunday I take him to the Zoo for some egg hunting and I make sure he celebrates easter.
