Come check out performances by some of the hottest up-and-coming talent from the US , Mexico , Puerto Rico and Latin America, with performances by Pacha, Popvert, Curanderos, Cuban Cowboys, Orixa, Soniko, Santos de Los Angeles and DeLux. The winner of the LAMC Battle of the Bands contest will be announced and presented with the Grand Prize at this event. This is a semi-private event open to LAMC registrants, with a limited number of tickets will be made available for purchase to the general public.

We've all seen it happen one too many times - a promising act gets signed by a label, receives a recording budget, and puts out a brilliant album...however more often than not, the "brilliant" album falls flat. Having a successful release is dependent upon much more than just making great music. It's the crucial decisions (many of them marketing) that are made before, during and after the completion of the album that determine whether it will soar or flat-line. Can Latin Pop, Hip Hop, Reggaeton and Rock co-exist peacefully in one station - general market stations do it, why can't we? How can we organize our efforts to make radio a reality? Are we guilty of not doing enough to support the few outlets that DO provide opportunities for this music? Is radio really the missing link, or just a scapegoat?

With a warm welcome from the Big Apple, the biggest event in the world for alternative Latin music will return to New York August 2nd - 5th. Featuring leading artists as well as many of the music industry’s most prominent decision-makers, the seventh annual LAMC’s daytime events will once again be held at Manhattan’s Puck Building in SoHo.

Among the events planned for LAMC 2006 are free concerts at Central Park Summerstage, Celebrate Brooklyn Festival at the Prospect Park Bandshell, and Museo del Barrio, as well as numerous showcases and industry panels for LAMC registrants. With past conferences averaging more than 1000 music industry attendees and 20,000 concert fans each year, LAMC 2006 promises to be an exciting year. This four-day conference providing networking opportunities with the genre’s leading artists, label executives, journalists, marketers, managers, retailers and programmers, is the most extensive to be offered by a music conference to date. LAMC was conceived in 2000 by artist manager Tomas Cookman and publicist Josh Norek with the goal to gain wider acceptance for the genre.
