during the mass, there's a point when the people are asked to share a sign of peace, right?.

well, these days, we shake hands and embrace, at most.

in the good ol' days of Paul the Apostle, the accustomed peace sign was a kiss in the lips (Saludaos mutuamente con un beso santo, 2 Corintios 13.12.)

other than that, I do greet or bid goodbye to my godfather with a kiss in the lips. no big deal, I think.

I consider myself a very loving mom.  I always kiss my daughter and I hug and squish her all the time I just don't kiss her on the lips.  It's not that I find it perverted I just don't do it. 

It's a personal choice I guess.

Well first of all I have two girls and I always kiss them on their lips, for me doesn't have anything wrong, because as a parent you do it with real love, because they are your's and one day they will go and they will feel weird to be kissing mom or dad so much, specially when they are teens. My mom was very loving but never kiss me or hugh me has I do with my girls, because I want them to remember that I give them all the love that I could, alla los pervertidos q quieren pensar otra cosa , that is just a maternal love, nothing wrong with that, so enjoy the love that your kids feel for u before they grow and you pass on a second position in their lives when they have boyfriends or girlfriends.

I think this topic is something that nobody is right or wrong everyone just has personal opinions! to me i would kiss my baby or 1ish kid on the lips i see nothing wrong! however family memebers its a bit different! and not necessarily wrong just not my cup of tea! his grandmothers well thats his/her abuelita! no harm done there pero un tio tia or cuzin thats different!

My family has always been very NO NO about stuff like this but I used to kiss my nephew on the lips when he was one-ish. I just loved the little thing to pieces and I just couldn't help myself. But I stopped once he got older.

Well my neighbours were at it again last night kissing their kids. After reading all the posts on this thread I understand some people don't see a problem with it and to each his own, BUT yesterday I saw a little twist to this. The kid who is about 6 or 7 was also being kissed by what looks to be his grandmother and another person who I know is not the parents
For all the people who believe it is ok to kiss your own kids do you think it's ok to let other family members do that as well on the lips? Just curious.

 I think that's just wrong.  Adults can carry several kinds of diseases which can easily be exchange.  Kids don't have a strong immune system.

Well I find it very normal to give a kiss on the lips as long that is not FRENCH kissing (a little peck is ok.)

I think Bistor you're not understanding her point.  She's a mother and has a child.  You can't relate to what she's trying to tell you.  Your comment was a bit to the extreme...borderline....child pornography-ish.  You tried to be funny and fell a bit short but I think you should take back your comment.

I would personally NEVER kiss my kids on the lips or would I tolerate anyone doing it.


I know it's a sweet kiss or form of affection, but it's grouse. No need for that.


I hate when my brother's in-law kiss my niece on the lips......OMG i could kill her with my eyes. I told my brother to cut that crap.

Okay, okay, I'm with you on this one, Chile. There's just something a little creepy about the kissing on the lips FOR ME, PERSONALLY.
