the hardest part of having a website is the beginning, when you need to determine how your site works and how is it gonna look like, adding content is fairly easy if you have the right tools. Back in the day it used to be difficult, now you can have a site like TH running in less than an hour and at a very competitive price (less than 10 dollars/month). Getting your site to be popular like TH is a different story. , that's where you'll dedicate most of your time.
I run 6 sites(my own or contracted) on my spare time, so you can see you don't need to be monitoring your site 24/7.

Is there an office where there are people monotoring the TH site..so they can see whats going on all over the place??? Sorry for my ignorance..

If I'm not mistaken, TH is pretty much run from a guys basement :). A website, put in the simplest of terms, is just a program, that is running on a computer. When you go to TH.com, the program "serves" the webpages you want to see, to your browser. The program runs on its own, though it also generates log files that can be used to diagnose any problems, or detect traffic patterns, etc.
