They points neruda made were valid.... how it was presented was very insensitive, so were his replies (as were my replys to him, simply in reaction to his)
I see how a forum would be an easy place to be "raw" I guess we're all guilty of that, but neruda took the gold.........but I guess I've learned to not take everyones tone, here, too seriously

I haven't read the infamous 'tree' thread but from what Ladybug has paraphrased, Neruda makes sense. I relate it to filipino women I know or have known... they were either too much into parties, already preggers (from all the partying), too dumb to chew gum or if they were at all smart, intellectual, responsible or caring... they were ugly enough to be related to me!

I'll add that the same is true for hispanic men. We are underrepresented at the postsecondary education level, but that doesn't mean we don't exist.

Regardless, I can't say I care much for this sort of pomposity. An education does not make you a better human being. My grandparents have (had) an elementary school education, and did the best they could in life, given their circumstances.
