Well, we use "anda" or "andate" instead of "ve" or "vete" (Ya, we cool, LOL) "Boludo" could be a bad word or a not so bad word (generally it means Stupid) depending on the context though.... kind of like "Pendejo" for you (I'm guessing here)
Ahhhh, ok ... yeah if I were to say pendejo it is not a compliment LOL!!! ok I got it ... thank you
Ummm, y porque andate?? Bueno I have a question ... ummm, over the weekend I over heard a conversation and heard BOLUDO is that a bad word????

I think out of all the Argentinos I know here in Toronto I can only think of one or two that had the "I am the best" think going on and Argentinos don't even like them. In Argentina I didn't meet anyone that fit these sterotypes...not even one person....my husbands friends were all super nice and everyone that I met while there was super nice. Okay so perhaps when it comes to soccer some of them were a bit cocky but FUCK if Chile would frigging win something I would be too
No, of course, hon… I agree, that the argentino stereotypes are not necessarily true (as many or most stereotypes, I suppose) I guess I just meant that I recognize that the stereotypes are there, and prolly because the ones that fit it stand out and puts us all under the same “umbrella”
I’m not gonna fuss over this too much nor do I care so much, to be honest. I only care about what the people close to me think about me, and that I’m not a Prick to them, and the rest… ****’em! ( I know…that sounded so argentino, lol..but I try anyway)
I also agree that when it comes to soccer we can be a bit cocky, but that’s only ‘cause we da best!! LMAO!!! (k, I’m joking, people!)

OH GOD JADE they are totally cocky when it comes to soccer BUT my team (colocolo) won the copa libertadores in like 1991 and I am still talking about it!! Chile came in third in the Olyimpics not too long ago and I think I cried soooooooooooooo if I was from Argentina or Brazil I would be cocky about soccer too.

I don't know if I should write this, but I will anyway. This is not a destructive, but a constructive criticism, and it does not link to the subject spoken of, but to the way in which it was "retaliated". I don't think one person can speak "in behalf of a whole community", and send a letter signed by 3 people... in all fairness, and regardless of the purpose of the letter, this does not add too much credibility to it, in fact, it takes it away. Unless those three people are part of the directive of the community and/or association, one has to either speak for oneself, or gather a significant number of signatures, to show that, in fact, there's a whole community speaking. so KE TE.

This is the kind of thing everyone (who's not argentinian) actually thinks it's true but nobody ever says it out loud, let alone print it. I wonder what beef El Popular owner (who I think is a jerk) has against argentinos. I mean, just like God (funny stuff, FGNTRG) everybody has something hilarious to say about each and every country, but what's the point of saying it? And when somebody who's not from there says it, then it becomes downright offensive, no?
So are you saying that becuase he's not Argentinian and expressed himself like that then it's ok?
There's a fine line between humour, sarcasm and ignorance!
If he was doing this about other countries on a weekly basis....then fine...but to only target ONE nation who is a huge supporter of his paper....ahhhh....nope...sori ah! not cool!
Also...not ALL the points were valid...in fact....70% of the article smelled liked BS....and it looks like he's lashing out at someone for something....(just my feeling thats all)
I wander if next week he will pick on Nicaranguenses or Chilenos.....and how far he will take it.....

The article does have some valid points and I think that most of us use those points as humour....(at least I do)....
The majority of my friends have been and are Argentinian and even THEY joke about their own stereotypes but not the degree of the article written above....(which is why I'm asking if the Olivera guy is Argentino or not)...not that it makes it OK....becuase jokes like that are cool amongst friends.....and not the entire Nation....

I am sure you wouldn't Daeveed but yes if they wrote an article like this about Chilenos I would find it very insulting. I also don't think this guy is joking....it's not funny if he is. You can't generalize like that....and it's simply not true. Here in Toronto and in Argentina the nice Argentinos I have met out number the annoying ones by a long shot!! That is like saying all Chilenos are coke sniffing/thieves.....just not true it's a certian kind of Chileno that is like that so yeah an entire article about something like that would be insulting.

Hello Marcelo, I am sorry but I agree with LadyBug on this one. This article does have some valid points. But you are right it is not right for them to have this in the newspaper. Most Argentinians I know think they are better than every latin american country. Just my opinion Yesi
