People born in the Year of the Dog possess the best traits of human nature. They have a deep sense of loyalty, are honest, and inspire other peopleˇ¦s confidence because they know how to keep secrets. But Dog People are somewhat selfish, terribly stubborn, and eccentric. They care little for wealth, yet somehow always seem to have money. They can be cold emotionally and sometimes distant at parties. They can find fault with many things and are noted for their sharp tongues. Dog people make good leaders. They are compatible with those born in the Years of the Horse, Tiger, and Rabbit.

At a news conference earlier this month, Alex Yeung, the festival's executive producer since its inception in 1997, announced there will also be about 50 gigantic, handmade lanterns on display — giving this year's festival its official theme: Light Up Your Heart. Other offerings include an East Meets West fashion show, a food court featuring such specialties as bubble teas and noodle soups, a market fair with items ranging from clothing and toys to home appliances, and an arts and crafts bazaar in the style of the shopping alleys of Hong Kong Island. A flower market, an important part of New Year decorations, will sell blooms such as plum blossoms, water narcissus and tangerine trees. Some of Canada's best table tennis players will compete, and visitors who dare can challenge the masters to a game or sign up for a workshop. A games area, set up by the Toronto Chinese Community Services Association, with a wishing tree and fortunetellers will raise funds to aid new immigrants. Tickets are $8.50 in advance or $10 at the gate. Yeung expects more than 100,000 people will attend.
Just came back from our "smoking room" and I found the toronto star section about the Chinese New Year Celebration. My bad

Seriously, I was looking at the news paper this morning and there were no highlights on the subject so I am just wondering where would it be the best place (s) to go and witness the New Year Celebration.

If you're enjoying 2006, then you're going to love 4703. That's right: It's time to ring in the Chinese New Year ... January 29 kicks off the Year of the Dog! The sign of the dog is known, not surprisingly, for loyalty and generosity. Need to spill a secret? Seek out one of these honest souls and bend that expert listening ear. While Dogs themselves may be reluctant to place their trust in just anyone, once they do, members of this sign can make the best business partners and leaders. And while Dogs might enjoy life more by relaxing their exacting standards from time to time, you'd be hard-pressed to find a better or more faithful friend. So what can we expect from the upcoming year? The Dog is an ethical and idealistic sign, and the year that bears its name will also bring increased social awareness and interest in society's less powerful members. Any tendencies to take, take, take will be replaced by a widespread sentiment of generosity and selflessness. In general, we will all be imbued with the Dog's keen sense of right and wrong. You can also get a feel for the year to come by checking the compatibility between your Chinese sign and the sign of the dog -- the better your compatibility, the better your year. Happy New Year and Gong Xi Fa Cai (may you have wealth and prosper)! see, we're not only picking on you LOL-- Edited by Julie at 08:39, 2006-01-26
