So.....Reggaeton has not died...it's only improving, becoming a business, a lifestyle, a role modle for latin urban youth......Reggaeton artists are finding that they too can charge the $$$$ that other genre artists are charging, and they are milking the popularity ("explosion") of their style! Bizz is Bizz!

So what genre of music is Fideo Blanko in? Is he a rapper, a reggae artist, a reggaeton artist?
Does he sing salsa or Bachata? Is he in control of his career or is his management playing him like a puppet and putting him in the genre that is currently hot?
If so will he be singing Soka music if it ever blows up in Canada like it is in Jamaica?

Reggaeton has not been  around longer then bachata...
bachata has been around for  the longest times... I have a friend that has a tape of bachata from the 50's.. it was never big here until the 90's but it been around longer the reggaeton

i think every club plays a little of reaggton...

 

well reggaeton is a huge movement right now with lunny tunes is sit to open up a huge studio

and as far as toronto is concerned its being played at every english club and the owners are feeling the reaction the are getting from the crowd not only the latinos but the english market

now i am talking about 20 minutes to 30 minutes prime time where it is all reaggaeton in these clubs

so it is doing really good

my only beef is these reggaeton guys charge so oo much money and to bring them here you have to pull out the wallet

True. I don't think the Foro would have that big of an impact to kill Fitos popularity or Reggaetons popularity. I personally feel that people in Toronto(spanish ppl) are more into traditional music in the clubs like salsa, bachata, merengue and so on. I don't mind reggaeton, I actually love a few songs, but I would prefer the other genres. Especially when you compare the quality of a live perfomance between a real band or group of musicians compared to reggaeton artists.

I think Fito Blanko killed reggaetoni in Toronto. He had a buzz going but then people started hating him and associating reggaeton with him. Atleast Montreal and the U.S. knows there are other stars other than Fito.
He was the only reggaeton artist getting promoted in T.O, other artists we being overlooked.

IMO what killed reggaeton here was the lack of knowledge from the DJ's on the genre....u always got the same songs over and over again and again anywhere u went, if u keep on doing that people are just going to get sick......to tell u the truth the best reggaeton set i ever heard was at Fluid on a Thrus night and that was even before it got sooooooo big here in T.O.
