Vancouver just misses rain record

VANCOUVER — Soggy West Coasters are usually pleading for the rain to go away.

But there was a bit of disappointment when it did go away after 27 consecutive days of rain — one day short of equalling a 53-year-old record.

Environment Canada says no measurable amount of rain was recorded yesterday on the official rain gauge at the Vancouver airport weather office in Richmond.

At least two-tenths of a millimetre of rain would have had to fall to make it count.

Meteorologist Brian Robilliard was among those rooting for the rain but the dark clouds hovering over the region failed to co-operate.

The relentless rain began to ease on Friday, allowing officials to end a landslide alert for about 300 mountainside homes in North Vancouver.

I don't know if I could deal with that type of weather.

The lack of sunshine bothers me in the winter..........Add 29 days straight of rain......

I'd lose it!!!!!!!!!

VANCOUVER -- Vancouver is on the verge of tying a weather record - one residents are unlikely to celebrate.

If it rain's Sunday in Vancouver, the city will have gone 28 straight days with precipitation -- tying a record set 53 years ago.

Forecasters say there's a 90 per cent chance of rain Sunday and a 100 per cent chance of rain in Vancouver forMonday, which would set a record.
