Padre David, if anything, will put you to sleep. No offense, but he's really boring. And his masses are marathons. I was godmother to my nephew for his baptism, and P. David officiated the mass. It was summer and mass lasted for about 3 and a half hours. Insane!!!

Depends on how you look at it.....

His masses are marathons because he tries to get deep into the readings.....

The problem is when he goes on on a tangent....and then on another one.....and so on and so forth.......

Humans by nature have a limited amount of attention span.....so yeah......I think everyone tunes him out after a bit....and he defeats his own purpose....

I used to sing at his masses.....and the only thing that kept me awake was playing guitar and looking at the next songs coming up.....

For every Father David....there is a Father Garcia....I think he's at San Juan Bautista.

He can give a full mass in about 15 mins.....inclunding communion, peace, etc...the works!! He talks so fast.....And he's funny.

Because I have most of, say, stone temple pilots' albums on cd, it does not mean that I would even hesitate to go to one of their concerts.

Far from equalling any musician or person, for that matter, with God, I think the point of going to church is not so much "meeting" God, as it is meeting God in the same act of gathering as believers.

Who's a believer, and who isn't? Certainly, going to church is not a must. But it surely can make it all the more inteligible and, come think of it, religious.

The other day I went to church and there was this young woman provocatively dressed, She kept looking backwards like looking for something, She wasn't paying attention to the mass, and She was kind of showing her rear.  I don't know what was wrong with her, but she certainly made me loose concentration.  Uno no quiere pero como llegan con una ropita y unas falditas que Wow!.

Me acababa de arrepentir y ya habia acumulado otros mas para la proxima misa, jejeje!

I didn't ,. but I think that you don't need to go to church,. because every room or space where u find the presence of God is church ,... also ur body is God's Temple,.

I know!!! And we had to stand, 'cause typical latinos, we were late for mass. And I was wearing high heels and I can't handle high heels even when I'm sitting down (flat feet)... so it was painful. I think it's castigo de dios 'cause I only show up to church for special occasions...

24- 5 pm service at a beautiful roman catholic cathedral here in winnipeg -there are two rc cathedrals here, by the waywhose modern building was erected within the ruins of the first cathedral, that burnt 50 years ago- and a vespers service at the anglican cathedral. great music at both, really nice.

I missed los villancicos, though.

On sunday I attended a very small anglican parish close to the hotel. Beautiful organ music, and a wonderful child choir.
