Je suis single but....

If I'm only considering a serious relationship from now on, shouldn't that still require 'dating' for the process of elimination? But I'm sick of dating and the longer-than-dating-relationships. Has ''absolute'' friendship always been the way to go in order to find love? (that is if love really exists, hehe)
