The legislation is not yet in place. In Europe, there are drop-off containers everywhere, and you can dispose your electronics there. Mind you, currently there are other options here, which can be seen as the begining of all this. There are cellphone drop-off containers in some grocery stores, where you can dispose of your old/broken cellphone and it will be properly dismantled/disposed/recycled. At Ikea they have battery drop-off containers, where you can throw out all your used batteries. There are many computer recycling companies, and another option are the companies who take your old computer and give it to somebody who doesn't have one.   So if you have one of those toothbrushes, for now, you can only throw it in the garbage, but hopefully soon enough, you will be able to throw it on a special bin for WEEE.

Once again....

 Thank u very mucho....

I noticed that Staples has toner recycling bins, as well as cell phones....

NO IT'S NOT in the Canadian market yet... I would not imagine anyone else having this baby!

Actually this topic is very close to me. Not because I use those toothbrushes, but my work is closely related to the Waste of Electronic and Electrical Equipment (commonly known as WEEE). If you've bought an electronic product after auguts, it would probably have a label of a garbage bin with an X on it. This means that the company who made the product, has also made arrangements for its proper disposal/recycling. This is currently a law in Europe, and will be one soon in China, the US, and eventually in Canada, being Alberta the province with the most work done in the matter. So when buyng electrical or electronic equipment, try to choose the ones with the garbage bin label, to support companies who worry about the environment.

WEN APORTE ESGRACIAO!!!!!! (prof. Salomon style)

and where do I find that label??? how does it look like???

What are the advantages of having one of those brushes over a regular not motorized toothbrush??? Is it even worth it to buy one? What's wrong with doing extra exercise with your hand and brush? I don't like them.

Last night I bought this new Oral-B (disposable) electronic toothbrush..... originaly I was looking for the replacement for the Braun electric brush.....the thing is that the replacement was "waaaaay" more expensive that the actual electronic disposable brush....

do you think we should waste technology like that??? I mean this new brush comes with a battery, a little motor, etc.... but you can't replace anything, so everything goes to the garbage can...
