I think becoming friends is one thing – but getting romantically involved or even getting MARRIED is a bit more serious… and then, Religion – as well as other factors – do become more relevant. I too would have a hard time getting involved with someone with a different religion – especially if it’s very different… but at the same time, if the person has great values and there is enough of a basis to give it a shot, you may learn to live with the different religious beliefs - - - but 9 months plus – down the road when you have kids – you will have to have discussed and decide how you going to raise your kids!

To tell you the truth, i don't chose any of my friends this way. But i do think religion to me is important. I don't want to be with someone who is not the same religion as me! For instance there is this guy at work, who wants to be more then friends! He is a nice guy and everthing. We get along so well, but he is of another religion. I don't like his beliefs at all. He is Egyptian.
Dogo - GREAT TOPIC!!! I must say that you tend to find friends that share your views. I think you surround yourself with people that have things in common with you. Politics are a big thing for some people....for my family it has always been a major thing and I don't find I have much in common with people who are on the total opposite side of the spectrum politically. I guess it depends on how much politics or religion are a part of your life.

None of which are based on religion, age or race. LGigolo, you couldn't have said it better!!!! Great answer!!

In the past few days many threads re. Politics and religion have come up. Does people’s creed really affect the way you feel about them as a person/friend? Do you pick and choose who you befriend based on their religious or political points of view? Is it important to you that people close to you share these beliefs?
Well I have never really think about it, I guess I just have fun with the person and we click but I have never think about their beliefs, I guess the more u know about the person by hanging out your feelings either change or u get closer 2 the person..
