I used to buy those at that Chileno bakery that used to be at Keele and Sheppard!! I wonder if they just closed down or moved somewhere else!! Esa senora used to make that cake for me as well. As you can tell, i only buy chileno cakes. I hate white people cakes!!

Alfajores are individual sized cakey things. They're made with dough and manjar (dulce de leche). They're awesome. you should order a few and try them.

Can you tell me who "the guy" is and whether he lives closer to the east than the guys from Duport/Bathurst?

It's called "La Rosa Chilena", and in the same plaza there are 2 stores, one is the restaurant, and the other is the bakery. It's on Wilson just west of Dufferin on the north side like trucho said.

My mother makes "mil de hojas" and a few other cakes con leche dulce.


Jumbo empanadas on Augusta (kesington Market) makes the best empanadas in the city.

Try the guy at Dupont and Bathurst. This is a store that makes tortas chilenas. I can't remember the name, but if you check la guia hispana you'll find them there.


 


BTW, if anyone knows someone who makes these tortas in the east, let me know. I can't drive all the way downtown for tortas chilenas, as much as I like them. If someone can TEACH ME how to make them, even better.

I need everyone's help!!! I know that someone always knows someone that knows una "senora que hace las tortas".LOL!! Serously though, i've been trying to call this chileno i know and he is never home!! I'm running out of time. I love those chileno cakes, so if anyone knows someone, PLEASE let me know A.S.A.P!!!
