There were some nominees that didn’t show up for reason I and the staff found, for lack of a better word unacceptable. The reason why we say unacceptable is because some people failed to see the importance of these awards. These awards have already got the local artists in Toronto and soon in Montréal more of a reason to start recording. Even though there was only local media there this year imagine next year when sabor Nuevo introduces international and Montréal acts. Alex Bello went to New York for an awards and made great connections and was offered dozens of record deals. The vision of the awards is to bring the International Latin music world and its fans focusing for one weekend in Canada. Imagine all those connections coming here to see you guys the Local talent. Sabor Nuevo and Toronto Hispano invested a lot of time and money into these award and also the local medias all jumped on board and invested there time. All to recognize the hard work you guys put into the entertainment industry. All we asked in return was to give us 3 hours of your time to be a part of a vision “A vision were we are all working together to better our Latin Canadian Entertainment Industry”

We all know that these types of events have to start somewhere.....and from what I've heard....This event was a good start.
I just hope that in the future.....Artists such as Diego Marulanda (JUNO nominee), Hilario Duran (JUNO award winner), Puentes Brothers (JUNO nominee), Luis Mario Ochoa, who's music has been featured in tv shows such as "The Traders" and "The Associates" and which by the way..is part of the JUNO nominating and electing committee.....and bands like Orquesta Fantacia...which has recorded 5 albums in the last year and a half.......all have their talents recognized by the LOCAL promoters.

As i was explain by toronto hispano and sabor nuevo these awards main focus was on the talent we have here in Toronto only, Next year they will include all of Canada so that should be interesting and great for the latin community and artist in all of Canada. AB.......
Thank you for clarifying that Alex. I wasn't sure about that.
I guess other genres and categories will follow.

Thank you TV Buff, I know I can get to be annoying at times, that’s why I won the title “The Annoying Man” in High School for 4 years in a row, I promise once again to cut down on the je je je, one thing I want you to understand is that this is the only place where I can really have fun, be who I really am inside, this is the Alex personal side not the artistic side, soy un loco that loves to have fun pero gracias por honestidad y por el apoyo.

Wasn't there supposed to be a "dance off" or something like that? I was curious to see how they would pull this category off......
Was like so much media suppose to be there i mean confirmed MEDIA?? what happened i guess it wasnt so CONFIRMED after all!
Im glad to hear that even though these awards were so rushed and so many MANY!! ARTIST were not even nominated just the ones that "People" recognize names too! did go well for all of you congrats and i hope that NEXT YEAR THERE IS AN IMPOROVEMENT AND PROMISES I MEAN WORDS ARE KEPT!
As I said in previous posts: CONGRATULATIONS on a job well done!
The great organization of the event was a shocker to many.......and this is great, because it has restored their faith in such "local talent appreciation" events......
And Eddie.....I must say that I'm glad you have realized what a "professional" group CRIOLLO is.....and for expressing that you can't judge a book by its cover...... This happens all the time with "Urban Acts".....
Thank you for lending out your support to them........and I think that one of the first steps would be to play their music at your venues.......EVERY local artist needs that.......I know you have their CD, so let me know if I need to provide Caña Dulce with music as well......(the new single....etc) (if CRIOLLO's music is already being played by your DJ's, then pls disregard the comment and Thank You!)
I must add.....that there are MANY other local artists, DJs, dancers, producers, and promoters who were not nominated for this year's awards show......but who have done more for the community and just the fact that they are representing the Latin community in a positive way on a daily basis, says a lot, with or without an Award at hand.....ESPECIALLY THE PEOPLE IN THE INDUSTRY WHO HAVE OPENED THE DOORS FOR ALL THE "ROOKIES".....
My shocker was LUCHO DE SEDAS winning best group.......well deserved I'm sure, but they were the "under dog" in that category......
FITO BLANKO was a favoured winner......we all knew he would win something: He deserves it!
Alex Bello......he should win an award for "humility"......I'm very happy for him.
Who won "Dancer of the Year" Award??
