I bought a "broken" Xbox on ebay (for 80 buckets), it took me 45 mins with the soldering iron to bring it back to life.
I replaced the hard drive with 120 Gb. They come from stock with a 8gb, Replaced the Original Software with Xbox Media Center and Im able to play movies, MP3's, Surf the web, Weather, News , stream audio and video, I can connect from work to my xbox and watch movies hosted in the Xbox -- Edited by Pancho Cachondo at 10:40, 2005-11-21

Personally I dont think is worth, yeah it looks shiny and cool from the outside BUT you can do exactly the same with an Old one, Yes it takes few mods, change the bios , change the Core Software, Install mod chip, install bigger hard drive and Voila. So in other words............Give u're old XBox to Pancho and he'll fix it for you!!
