Hey!!! I wasn't even in the company when they stoped the parties......I gues there are other drinkers in the company!!!
I wouldn't categorize my company as cheap.....since i do work in the non-for-profit sector & in that we don't budget for employees Huge X-Mas party. But we still get a nice little something (gift) & a nice Luncheon at a nice restaurant & we get to go home early.
Not that bad in my opinion considering I work for a charity & I've seen worse scenarios in the corporate world.

In defense of the Jews (holy Moses), the company I used to work for was co-owned by a Jew and the office manager was a jew as well, and the first 3 years we had amazing x-mas parties. Not dancing and stuff because it's not their thing, but we went to dinner and Mamma Mia, we went to see The British Invasion at Stage West Theatre, we went to a Murder-Mystery dinner, it was pretty OK.

I am a make-up artist, but when I was working with Lauder and Chanel I was a Business Manager. Im still a Business Manager in a completely different industry. Male dominated...thank god. Less drama and more opportunities.
The company I work for has like 7000 employees around the world, and sell billions of $$$ in chemicals, and yet, they stopped giving Christmas bonuses and the party, bunch of cheap bastards. I worked before for a medium size company, We used to get $500 as bonus, a nice party at one of those hotels by the airport, free open bar, and 50 % discount for any room ( since there was open bar). Now that was a party.
MY COMPANY BASE IS LOCATED OVERSEAS.... SO ALL THE WORLWIDE EMPLOYESS GET A BIG CASH CHRISTMAS BONUS, AND EACH YEAR IT'S TWICE AS MUCH AS THE FIRST YEAR....
I CAN WORK ONLINE FROM ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD, SO IT GIVES ME FLEXIBILITY WHEN I TRAVEL....
OHHH DID I MENTION THAT I WORK FROM HOME.....AND NOT FOR JEWS....LOL (not rubbing it in or anything.....just sharing stories) LOL

I was lucky that I found such a great company to work for- especially since I was in the cosmetics industry prior to this..for 10 long years working with Truly WICKED..EVIL women.
I just dont get it...why do women in High profile positions have to be sooooo nasty, or should i say why do women in general have to be so nasty to one another? It was by far, the worst environment I have ever worked in.

Let me see, is the company I work for generous? Considering they pay me the big bucks to post on the foro all day, I'd say so!!!
Seriously, though, this company is a little weird. We do have a nice department dinner, drinks, etc. for Xmas. They also have a kids party where they go all out. But the actual Xmas party for grown ups doesn't happen until March (they say it's Xmas, Hanukkah and everybody's holiday that falls between now and March). Again, they go all out: unbelievable buffet dinner, party, open bar, even a talent show and great, great giveaways (I sang at one of the shows once... big mistake). It just sucks that it happens in March, but it's awesome.
I worked for a company a few years ago where I'd never seen people get so many freebies. Xmas and summer parties (they went all out), perks left, right and centre, good pay, but the work environment was s*it and my boss was the biggest witch to ever roam the earth. So I guess you can't have it all! (Now I want to work part time for Melanie's company)

The company I work for now....has way too many legal problems to spend any money on us.....I guess the fact that I have a job is Christmas bonus enough
The last company I worked for....would give us TURKEYS for Christmas
I know it's the thought.....I guess......But I always felt like a charity case having to line up to get a turkey from the president........I guess that made him feel good

not cheap at all...big bonus for christmas...kids party with a nice present for everyone, good pay, excelent vacation pay, and nice benefits package. But I want more..:)
My company is alright... I'm not happy with what I get paid.. but then again who ever is...
We have a fancy Christmas partiy at a hotel which included diner, open bar and dj so we can dance all night. We get special rates if we decide to stay in the hotel too.. and they give away like 5 all inclusive trip and other prices..
We also have a Christmas party for the kids. They usually do this at a hotel also, they have food and games for the kids and then they have someone come dress as Santa and give out presents to all the kids.
They usually give out all inclusive trips through out the year, but since so many people work there it's kind of hard to win stuff. I've only won two trips so far and I've been working there for five years.
They also give out little stuff and take us out for lunch or drinks once in a while...
The company I work for does not look cheap, so far. The Xmas party will be help in an hotel were most of the cost of the room will be at the company expense + dnner + open bar and party all night.
We also have quaterly time out as team for sports events, dinner, etc... Not talking about the flexible time and a very good manager

every christmas they invite the 50 employees and their guests to the christmas party, w/ 2 bottles of wine per table, band and dj at a banquet hall, and really good meal, that gotta be at least 10 to 15k
plus, a christmas lunch paid by the compnay per department, last year we went to the keg steakhouse
plus great benefits and stuff like that,
but they can't afford me posting on el foro from 9-5, cheap a$$es!
The company I work for is pretty good now! They used to be a bit cheap but we have a new V.P who is all about treating his employees well and now they are getting better.

The place I work for is great… at NOT spending any money on us!
We get to pick the place where we want to go for Xmas lunch… we just have to pay for it out of our OWN pockets! YES, our own pockets!
The reasoning: It’s the taxpayers’ money, and if we treat you too well and taxpayers find out, they will complain! Fack, working for the government does have quite a few negative aspects to it! I can’t complain, though… I do have it good – just it could be better – much better!

I love the company i'm at...flexible hours, great benefits, great bonuses, monthly lunch, open bar christmas/halloween parties and great pay.... ...plus I get to surf and chat as much as i want
I'm not sure if they are cheap asses or not. But, my company always gives us a nice dinner, gives us a gift, and pays for our taxi ride at the end of the night cuz they make sure they give us lots of alcohol on our christmas dinner. And the day after we get half a day off.
i like it. we have pot luck lunches, secret santa and contest. Can't complain.
