We didn’t have a lot of time to send out a notice to all the pre nominees. Because it is a local event for this year we decided to contact them with there invitation this week. The original date for the dj competition to finish was November 5th we were thinking of combining the awards with the finalize but we later decided its best to keep them apart. And everyone is being contacted this week or weekend

I will try to answer this. Toronto Hispano from what I know, is helping with the organization of this event. They called because they probably thought that it was proper to send a sort of invitation to make it more formal....it makes sense. Let me add that the Toronto Hispano have nothing but good intentions on this and they've been doing nothing but a great job with helping in the promotion. I really haven't asked any of the fellow nominees if they got a call from someone concerning this event. But makes no difference to me. I'll might be in some bar in Guadalajara listening to a live mariachi, getting laced and living a worry free life during that time anyway
BUT I think everybody should have been notified of being nominated. We should've been notified who is on this committee just so that everyone knows what's going on and feels legit about it. I don't know if the winners will be entered into an archive supported by a music related entity or anything either. Although I feel somewhat gratified for the nominations, I feel that many people are being left in the dark about this ESPECIALLY the artists. Although it seems like a great idea, I still belive the attention is not focused on our rich talent and culture which are our artists, writers and DJ's, but on the money that can be made. I'm an older kat...been in this along time. But hey...money makes the world go 'round according to famous quotes. I still get criticized that I'm a fraud for not attending this event since I'm the creator of S.L.U.T...but I don't give a rat's ass what people say. I respect the art and that's that. Artists are people too for pete's sake...
Congrats to all the nominees you guys and many more of our artists deserve it AND much more!

I was never informed that I was nominated for the award.....I found out because someone mentioned it to me in passing.........Although greatful....I just thought I'd be informed about it by the Committee......Isn't that the norm??? I honestly wouldn't know.....I have never been nominated for an award before.....
