I missed the parade, so I only ended up checking out the festival.
Although I do agree that it could have been better organized and put together, maybe the acts could have been a bit more organized, and also situated at a better location......... HOWEVER, I am proud that our community is trying to organize events like this to bring us together and show that we too, can be united as a community.
There are bad and good aspects to everything.
Try to concentrate on the good of this event....
1. It brings the latin community together
2. Showcases local artists that we might other wise have never heard about
3. Allows for local artists/crafts people to show off their work
4. Networking within our latin community, for our latin community
5. Shows other communities that we too can be united
etc. etc. etc.
I would love to see bigger and better things from our community, but overall, it was pretty good. I for one, am proud that our community put this festival together, it gave us an opportunity to support other artists and enjoy some delicious different latin foods, and also just an chance to chill in our own unique latin vibe.
So overall this Tangita gives the festival two Thumbs Up!
Did anyone go? How was it? I've heard mixed reviews.
Me & Fea didn't see the parade but we went to the park where the performances were going to be held & it was ghetto. OMG ghetto. We literally walked in, made a u-turn, bought empanadas colombianas & walked right back out.
Never again.
I think the Toni Reyes festival was way better, nicer & even better organized.
