 FErrer, de lustrador de zapatos a un immortal artista.


 Y por que?, porque esos si son artistas, saben cantar y tocar instrumentos.  Son gente con pasion por la musica, ya nacen asi y se perfeccionan.  Esa musica perdura y es gustada por miembros de varias generaciones.  Esos artistas dejan un sentido de vacio cuando se van; pero asi es la vida. 


 Que descanse en paz Don Efrain Ferrer.

Thanks for the link.  I already had the song, i have a lot Buena Vista Social Club music, but this version seems different than the one I have.  But this one sounds great as well.

la mejor manera de dar un tributo a Ibrahim es seguir haciendo nuestra musica, nunca darnos por vencidos y sentirnos orgullosos de lo que hacemos. Porque para nosotros la musica es nuestra vida. Gardenias, es y sera, un vivo tributo a la vida de Ibrahim, su alegria e inmensurable talento. En cuanto a Dos Gardenias....  no creo que para esta oportunidad Gardenias pueda tocar esa cancion por la falta de tiempo, y tambien por el respeto al publico (nos gusta tocar las canciones de la mejor manera posible). Eso no cambia el hecho de que en alguna cercana instancia ese magnifico bolero resucite a traves de nuestras voces e instrumentos.

Absolutely! We can check with the other guys, but I think a tribute to the man by Daeveed playing 'Dos Gardenias' would be awesome. I heard Daeveed is a pretty good musician as well as a "SEXY BITCH".

Cuban singer Ibrahim Ferrer dies






Cuban singer Ibrahim Ferrer
Ibrahim Ferrer had just got back from a European tourThe veteran Cuban singer Ibrahim Ferrer has died in a Havana hospital, aged 78.

He had recently completed a month-long tour of Europe, and was admitted to hospital with gastroenteritis, his wife Caridad Diaz told the AFP news agency.

He was a master of the son and bolero styles, but was in obscurity when US guitarist Ry Cooder recruited him for the Buena Vista Social Club.

The 1997 record of the same name gave him an international re****tion in his seventies, and led to numerous tours.

In 1999, a film directed by Wim Wenders, was released, showing Ry Cooder's work with the group of veteran Cuban musicians.

Late stardom

Ferrer was taken to hospital on Wednesday on his return from his European tour.








He was a very worthy person, to be admired, not only as a musician but also as a father and a husband

Obituary: Ibrahim Ferrer "He was taken to hospital when he got back and his condition worsened. He died of multiple organ failure," said his manager Daniel Florestan.

He will be buried on Monday.

"He was a very worthy person, to be admired, not only as a musician but also as a father and a husband," said Ms Diaz.

"He completed his European tour with great bravery. We are deeply affected by his death."

Two other leading members of the Buena Visita Social Club died in 2003, pianist Ruben Gonzalez and guitarist Compay Segundo.
