I believe that it all depends on the circumstances that you meet the girl in.  If you really click with the girl there is no sense in "waiting for the right amount of time" to call her.  Why waste your time when you could be out with her having fun with her or something.  If you don't like her as much but you think there may be a connection then you could wait it out a bit too see how you feel about her in a couple of days.  For me personally if I like a guy and I know he likes me I would appreciate a call sooner rather than later
