It's not so much of a story but I can't but remember my first time attempting to operate a quarter laundromat.... without any quarters. Months later, I graduated into smart card laundromats! Highly confusing.

Ok i was thinking about this thread and i was holding it to see how many newbies we have on TH so here we go; even for you JAIME CRUZ don`t be shy !!!!!
I was born here, but my parents used to tell me stories of how hard it was to adjust to the cold. Funny thing is they came in the fall So when winter came they were in for a shock What they do tell me all the time is that it used to snow a whole lot more back in the day. They've been here for 28 years and they say the last 6 years does not compare to how it used to be.

Well LG guess what my next one happen on the TTC not to me but to my friend`s dad he got lost coming home like many of us did, and he got on a wilson bus going towords JANE st,cuando se subio al bus segun el dice que el motorista le dijo que el transfer ya no valia y que necesitaba poner dos $$$ senalando a la caja donde ba el dinero,ONE MINOR THING el senor NO ENTENDIA INGLES,and the driver would point to the box and his dad would smile and look around so picture this, so he would answer with his broken englis ooh jes jes and smile,my friend`s father finally lean towards the box and said JES JES I GO TO JANE Y WILSON PLEASE and walk to the back
I guess I had seen the thread and didn't post before. Anyway, I used to show my transfer to anyone who cared to see it: bus drivers, TTC collectors, anyone! AND I got lost the first time I took the subway. I had to call my sister from Yonge and Sheppard, almost crying, 'cause I couldn't find my way back home (ossington/Bloor)! That was like the 3rd day that I was here.

ZIpote, many of us were given that kind of staff, it was great, that's when Canada was rich. When We got to the airport there were three limousines waiting for us ( those short limousines), and them We were taken to a nice hotel by Bloor and some street close to Yonge.
It was late 80's so I used to see so many punks walking on Yonge street, they used to paint their hair with so many colours. What a culture shock. And also, close to Church and another street by the Old mapple leaf garden there used to hang out a lot of ladies of the nigth. I though they looked like models and I couldn't understand why there were so many on the streets, I mean, I though no women here would need to do that, how wrong I was eh! jajaja.
Holly, one guy We met introduced us one day to the wonderful world of naked ladies on Yonge street, I just couldn't believe it. It looked like heaven to me, unbelievable,wow.
But We only saw and didn't consume much, so it was kind of weird being there. Culture shock again, wow.

My only funny story when I first came (4 yrs ago) was when people sneezed. In Chile when somebody sneezes we say "Salud", so I came here and everytime somebody would sneeze I would go and say "CHEERS".... Later on I learned it was actually "Bless you"

Well I came here when I was 3 years old with my grandpa so there's not much to tell. I can't remember crap about when I first came to Canada it was too long ago. Sure I have flash backs, but nothing solid to talk about.
I remember seeing the first streetcar and thinking how NEAT transportation was here in Toronto... problem arrived at hight, when the same stupid streetcars kept me awake all night cause of the sound they made - I only lived 3 houses off College Street, so it got some getting used to it.

Hey JOKER mi hermano fue a la HOLY FAMILY tambien y yo tube una chava Polaca that went there 2.Igot another one for u guys,this story is real, donde viviamos habian bastantes CENTRO AMERICANOS, en ese tiempo reciviamos ayuda de Man Power yo creo que se llamaba la oficina y habia un se~nor que en paz descanse que no habia recibido su ayuda $$$ entoncesde enojado se va pa las oficinas con sombrero corvo y cuma(solo le faltaron los caites )y llega bravo A LA GRAN P*** Y QUE PASA AQUI PUES con el corvo sacando chispas... ahi mismo le dieron su cheque

Oh ZIpote, there are so many stories, some funny and others not too funny. But I remember that back in the late 80's most canadians were very nice, if you fell down on the ground someone would offer help, things like that. Well, about three years after coming here I got my drivers licence, one day I got lost in Scarborough and drove around the same streets many times. SInce I didn't have much experience I kept my eyes on the streets and not on the streer signs, I think that's why I got lost. At about 8:30 p.m I hadn't turned my headligths on and a Drunk old guy made a sign to me, I thougth He was giving me a hard time so I gave Him the finger; later I realized that He ment to help by letting me know my ligths were off jajaja.
Well, I drove and drove and started to see the dayligth, my gas tank was getting really low, when it was all clear everything started to make sense and finally got home hungry and sleepy.

AND QUEEN just a few blocks from the lake picture this.

It was also night time, when we came to Canada (plane landed and all). We headed straight to our house in Toronto. But what we didn’t know is that our house was in CHINA TOWN! And for one month I thought O my God, where am I? So many Chinese people! Ewww and smellyyyyyyyyy, & what are these things they are selling??! What the hell is this? I HATED IT. I was so disappointed and cried. Then after a month and a half we moved from there, then I realized that was only Chinese part of Toronto. Thank God.
