Well if you're basing talent on a couple guys taking off their shirts, then that's just you. But when you say *the best merengue band*, they sure weren't the best I've seen. I've yet to see a better band then Banda Bella. I'm saying this in a perspective  where musicianship, choreography and basic presentation come together. Tumbao's show was good but like the other message said: It was too much hype for nothing. Banda Bella had the best coreography in my opinion and Dominicanada had the best singer (Ricky Franko) In Tumbao's show, the dancing was great and the band was tight. But the singing sucked. Not that the sound helped them either but I was fooled sometimes thinking alot of the stuff was live. I could swear hearing stuff coming out of the speakers that none of the musicians were playing. Anyways, they need to get a proper ventilation system in Momentos! I couldn't breathe air. I kept breathing peoples persperation - NASTY! All in all, the show I give 3 out of 5 stars *** JM

Hey, who the Hell is Juan henriques?  BTW, Isn't Dominicanada out of the scene? Are they still playing?

Listen,The show was fine, not what it was hyped to be though... We were promissed the best latin live show ever to come out T.O . I'm not an expert or musician, but it does not take one to figure out that not the whole band was playing live and it sounded like they were playing on top of a cd or something like that, but maybe I'm wrong and they just that good... If I am, I'll be courious to know how they were able to start every song all at once, I did not see anyone counting or directing or what ever you call that, Maybe I'm just skeptical and they are just amazing... Never seen that before and I've seen lots of live acts.

Overall, I like their concept and think they will get far if they don't let it go to their heads like every other artist in Town.

I also think, they are worth the $15.00 that I paid, I had a good time, just not that impressed...

I'll go see them again though.... I'll give them *** out 5

That's what we are talking about my friend, its true that falceto is a technique of course it is, but is a technique to make ur voice sound like in a certain way, (Not  natural), falceto is a technique to make notes that a guy can't reach or even if u can reach them u can still use falceto, and saying "Falceto" we are talking about Fingir la voz, and falceto (fingir la voz) is used a lot in R&b wich is not a bad thing cause is something that not everybody can do cause its a hard technique, in some of this merengue and salsa bands from Toronto just a few singers can do R&b and when i said

"singing where u can put a sweet melody in the voice and make people confused between having a sweet powerful voice  and or just singing sweet wich is the R&b music"

i meant that when u do falceto u are doing melodies at the same time and of course u have to give some sweetness to some falcetos so that way it becomes a "sweet falceto".  and I also meant that some people here get confused and think that singing R&b makes the singer the best and the number one and thats not true cause as I said before, R&b is not a singing to say "wow what a powerful voice", R&b is more about to say, "hes voice is good and sweet and he can really play with notes" not to say "That guy is the best latin Singer from Toronto". get it? lol but anyways, everybody have different tastes and ricky franco is just one of the good latin singers here in toronto. There are more good singers and a few ones.

and u JM, u are just one jealous person who might be or at least my try to be a singer so whenever u came to this forum and try to make other singers look bad, u'll always find an answer to ur not welcome comments. get it boy? dont like how other singers sing? show them that u are better then

I've seen that guy Ricky franco live and he screws a lot in lots of notes when he sings live and but that doesnt mean he sucks,  most of the time singers here cant hear themselves cause of the sounds they get in those clubs, Ricky sings good and his band is great but he's not the best singer from toronto lol ive heard better

Sorry I missed the show boyz,

But I'm hearing great things about it. Don't listen to all the hate. It's part of Toronto tradition nowadays unfortunately. I'm glad Tumbao joined the fight to keep live music kicking strong in the city scene. We need that now when bands are getting smaller and backplays are getting bigger...lol. Thanks for the CD G! Felicidades ...It's off the hook!! "Cuando Parara Tu Amor" is my fav for sure. Cris sang "Te Amo" amazing too! How come you didn't let me sing like that back in the day G?..lol. Anyway vato, congrats to your hard work and it's good you back on the scene. Your rest off music was worthwhile in the end. I look forward when next show comes around.

Mucho Exito!

Ricky

Hey guy lol first of all Banda Bella never had any singer I could see, their dance was good but that was about it. Voices recorded by other merengue bands from new york, Guys dancing and thinking to get all the girls cause of their pathetic dance? come on man. to make a band like that u can go to a striper place and pick up five guys and make a band, that wont take nobody nowhere to fame, to be in the music sceene u need to at least dance and sing good and have music with great melody, but all they did was make striper shows wich people got sick of cause they thought music is about being a striper wearing glasses and sheking ther asses and getting off the stage and start getting attention from girls and at the end taking a different girl everytime they had a show. that didnt make them look profesional at all. and talking about Dominicanada yeah that was a good band and the only voice singer that most of the people apreciated was this guy ricky but that doesnt mean hes the best, he sings ok but he is not the best singer from toronto, singing R&b doesnt make u the best singer, cause r&b is just a falceto singing where u can put a sweet melody in the voice and make people confused between having a sweet powerful voice  and or just singing sweet wich is the R&b music and I think this guy ricky needs more power to sing to be the best.

Now that this band Tumbao has come out its natural there is and there will be so much jealous people (specially the same ones from those old bands) and think they where better and had the best singers cause they feel sorry for not being in the music sceene anymore and not having a cerebro person who can guide them and do the right things to grow and make it big. And I see this guys from tumbao will make it far with the manager they have cause he looks like hes down to earth, not like these old bands that thought it was all about dancing and striping and or thinking they are the best when they are not.

Jealously, Jealous! I smell jealously here only cause u didnt like the show doesnt mean the rest of the audience didn't and or that u are gonna bring down the new Best Merengue Band From Toronto! with ur Bull***t comments. Ur coments are nothing against all the fans they have already and the fans they will have soon and the fame they are about to get.

it hurts eh too bad baby. And in case u are jealous cause u wont be popular as they will, make ur own band and ur own cd then and we'll see what are u capable of doing.

and as u said before that u wont ever waste money going to sabornuevo events or Tumbao's concerts so make sure u spend ur $10 in something else like going to a bar and getting drunk and go home and sleep and shut the hell up and stop talking too much crap. Got it loser?

Tumbaoo Me and all my friends are looking forward to know when is the next concert, we love their music and some of the guys are sexy

Show was great, great energy, great band, same "not soo good" sound of Momentos, but overall the next level in local talent. Congrats to G and the boys. Don't worry about the critics, you are expected some and it's a shame that the first postings in this forum has to be a negative one, so here are my two cents and a positive posting. I think you guys have what it takes. Keep it up and focus internationally, you will be better appreciated that in this city of haters.

I just came back from the show and it was ok. I was expecting -WOW- but seemed like the same thing all the other merengue bands used to do. Congratulations on their cd but fix up the show a little. It became too monotonous and unineteresting after a while. Good Luck muchachos!
