I don't think thay are all "overpaid" or that their job is so easy either. I think they work hard for their money and they have to put up with a lot. First and Worse: I think the shift work - imagine how hard it is on your body/system having to work different shifts every few weeks. Another thing: having to deal with some very rude people who ride the system everyday. Some of them don't even have much of a break or much time to eat their lunch... seating on your ass for 8-9 hours of your day CAN'T be fun! Many do it to earn a living - not necesarily by choice~

I should've learned how to drive a bus instead of accumulating debt by going to school

Tune up your bike, plan your carpool group, or pull out your walking shoes because transit workers are going on strike, local union president Bob Kinnear said Friday.
"It is ...with the deepest regret that I have to announce that we will be withdrawing our services as of Monday morning," Kinnear said.
The union’s demands for increased wages, pension contributions and leniency in scheduling weren’t met and on Monday morning its members will be walking off the job.
“For more than a decade, our wages have not kept pace with the cost of living,” he said. “Our members in maintenance are asked to work miracles with an aging fleet of vehicles. Our operators have to stay alert every single second under incredible pressures to meet precise schedules.”
The Amalgamated Transit Union Local 113 had warned that if a deal wasn’t reached by noon Friday, members would walk off the job Monday morning, leaving about 1.3 million people who rely on the T.T.C. in the lurch.
The union also refused to accept any offers or remain at the bargaining table over the weekend. Local president Bob Kinnear has accused the T.T.C. of moving too slowly on key issues. Wages and pensions are a major sticking point, but so are working conditions.
In March the union rejected the T.T.C.’s offer of a two per cent wage hike in the first three years of a five-year agreement.
“We've given our best offer and we're just hoping that - we're waiting and seeing and we're hoping for the best,” said T.T.C. vice-chair Joe Mihevc.
And it doesn’t look as though the government intends to swoop in quickly and force bus, subway and streetcar operators to take up their posts in the event of a strike. Ontario Premier Dalton McGuinty said he doesn’t have any plans to immediately order the transit employees back to work.

LOL Joker! I gotta carpool coworkers but I don't know anymore , don't want strangers un my car lol
The hope is that they still have Saturday and Sunday to resolve this... it may just be a pressure tactic being used by the Union so that the TTC gives in and goes with the deal that the Union is proposing... One honestly can't know until it actually happens... GEt your skateborards, bikes, burros, caballos, running shoes & rollerblades ready just in case!
