@GENIE I LOVE rancheras, cumbias and boleros but I don't like Selena....she had one catchy tune that "no se cuanto..bam bam" I liked that one but other than that just a blah pop star to me.........but I love the movie..... and I love that guy that played her hubby in the flick...does that count??? lol

Yeah it does not really have to do with age. Generally people who are younger are not into Santana cause they were not really into music when he was popular or in some cases not even born. Genie and I like him though and we are not old so I guess it all depends. I dont really have a point.....blah blah blah......

Chile dont get me wrong here i totally understand what there saying and trust me i hold him in like my top 5 amazing musicians! I have seen people post about artists and people jump all over them all the time, it is the way this foro works and i am sure Princessa knows that. You have to look at it this way perhaps this person is a passionate about Santana as others are about bachata or reggaeton.

I do think we need to respect opinions in this foro. I get attacked for hating reggaeton too which I don't consider good music.
To each his own, I can understand stating the reasons you feel the way you do or perhaps saying what Santana has accomplished but no need to jump on Princessa cause it's not her style of music.

I don't agree with her at all as I feel he is a VERY important LEGENDARY LATINO that has a TRUE gift that we should all apreciate but again it's a matter of taste.

Princesa tu suenas como que eres una persona que le gusta la musica creada por una maquina y que disfrutarias mas de un bato rapeando pavadas que de un real musician making real music y muy buena tambien. Maybe eso refleja tu edad pero te aconsejo que aprendas a escuchar y apreciar la buena musica latina, la que forjo las raices para todo lo que existe hoy.

I TOTALLY see all your points & views on him, but that will still not make me like him.
To me his boring & althou he can be the greatest guitarist, he still won't do the cut with me.
It's just my opinion on him & I did this topic because I saw that he was coming to Toronto & tickets were going to be drawn. I just find him so, so boring that even if I won tickets I wouldn't bother going.

Princessa - i totally respect your opinion and view but on Carlos santana You have it all wrong hes an amazing guitarist i have all his cds i think hes one of the best musicians out there the way he plays that guitar it amazes me!! He does sing but like Tv Buff said He sings through his guitar!!

I don't think he sings, but truth is, he doesn't need to: his guitar is his voice. I swear, he's such an amazing guitar player that it actually sounds like it has its own voice. But you're right, Supernatural and his collaboration with other artists was a genius move. I have that CD, and each song is better than the previous one. For a time there, that's all I listened to (I'm obsessive that way: If I like something, I listen to it so much that I wear it out... it's happening right now with Plan C's CD).

Carlos Santana is one of the greatest rock musicians of all times. He started playing in the early 70's and I love that music eventhough I was just a young kid then. It's too bad younger generations don't seem to appreciate rock music (latin rock); but, believe me, his music is great, especially the song of yesterday. I even have vynil records of his earliest albums, and some cd's aswell.
He is one of the latino musicians who have endure the test of times, so please, play attencion to his music and the message behind it. ALso, pay attencion how his musicians play the instruments, you'll see a lot of passion in them. You guys should be proud of him ( just a suggestion of course).
