Ummm, another word is Guagua ... For me "guagua" is a baby or little child ... But for my Domenican friend in NY it's a bus .... Imagine, we were walking and down the street and she says to me "Agarremos la guagua" and their innocent me saying WHAT? You crazy girl!!!

Here are some other words that come to mind that gets us latinos in trouble when we innocently used them in the way we learned them in our own country/culture and someone from another country culture has a totally meaning for it (Hey ALL of these are CLEAN for at least some of the latinos, just not for all):


COJER (agarrar o tomar algo), TIRAR (lanzar), PAJA (lo que dan de comer a las vacas), CONCHA (comida marina: los Ecuas comen concha - hecha en ceviche - plus never mind), TETA (as in mamila o biberon),  - - - I know there are a ton more, just those that come to mind right now.

I'm not dominican, but from what I understand ronca is either somebody snores, as in el o ella ronca (s/he snores) or you'd call that to a woman who has a deep, almost manly, voice. Just a guess.

LOL girl, I know I learned my lesson with "cojer" ... Guanaquita explained the meaning to me and there I was using the word like nothing ... Oh my innocent me!! LOL LOL ni yo me creo eso jijiji
