Even if the phone is unlocked it still does not guarantee it will work on Rogers (or Fido-Rogers) as some international phones work on different frequencies than North American Carriers)

If you do wanna sign a contract, most carriers offer you unlimited local calling for x months (even on a 1yr contract u get atleast 2 months) so that will help you determine your calling pattern and the amount of minutes you will need going forward.

I wouldn't recommend a prepaid plan unless you were sure you were going to talk less than 30 minutes a month. On plans, if you care about quality go with Bell, but if you care about price go with Fido or Telus

It all comes up to how many minutes a month you want to use your phone. Note that the minimum on each company's prepaid card is 10 dollars and they'll expire after 30 days. The average rate per minute is 35 cents (yes...35 cents per minute, it's cheaper to use a payphone), so with 10 dollars you get 30 minutes a month approx.

yep but not all carriers use the same technology, so if you bring an unlocked GSM (rogers or fido) phone to bell or telus, they won't be able to active it for you

Yup when you buy a cell u can use it only with that carrier that sold it to you

If you are not a big talker and dont want to go monthly ..Pay as you go,,, you can get the phone on ebay....the top of the line ...good price and UNLOCKED ....

That way you can have different Cell Numbers with different carriers....Pay cash..fake name...fake address... and nobody will trace your cellphone number....
