I think the main reason was that wasn't this originally aired on an american station? CBS or one of those? If this is the case, then yeah, they're obviously going to ask that everyone speaks English because the target audience is English-speaking? As for Jessica Simpson and all the other non-Latinos on the show, it's mainly for ratings, 'cause they'll get more viewers knowing someone like Jessica Simpson and Lindsay Lohan will be there. In fact, it's good they do this, 'cause that raises the profile of the show and more people watch it.

The other thing about the language I think it might be because GLORIA ESTEFAN and HUBBY are the ones behind the awards and they say it's to bring awareness to the gringos....I DON"T know I think it should be in spanish too plus the presenters trying to make jokes in English just end up sounding strange.....

BUFF...I JUST saw this posting!
Let me start by saying I HATE GEORGE LOPEZ with a passion! He is so NOT funny it's unreal. He makes retarded jokes and the audience is always just a BLANK STARE after each and every one of them. I tried watching his TV show and I can't even sit through it for 5 minutes never mind half an hour. They should have had another Latino host like that John Legazamo (don't know how to spell it) now he is funny!!!
The show was okay I loved Cafe Tacuba too....WICKED! Oh, I also LOVED SOLIS....what a voice but other than that blah blah blah not that great. The skits they write for presenters are also very bad??? What is up with that?????
I agree with you on the Paulina Rubio thing she looks great but she can't sing to save her life!!!!!!
All in all not a great show......

I know this is old news, but I just watched this on TLN (no satellite... ). So if I haven't watched it, it's new to me.
Anyhoo, here's my rant.
Paulina Rubio... WTF?!!! I'm not a big fan. I find her raunchy and vulgar, but I've liked some of her songs. But this perros crap? WTF???!!!
Have I mentioned before that my new favourite group is Los Lonely Boys? I LOVE these guys! They're great. Any local bands play that kind of music here in Toronto?
I also loved the Incubus/Cafe Tacuba (which moron George Lopez kept calling Cafe de Cuba...). That was a great mix; talk about fusion.
