It's great to see how prestigeous the event has become, which I'm sure make all Chileans very proud. For Peruvians Jorge Pardo's triumph is doubly exciting, given the fact that he also won as an interpreter. He was booed before, only because he followed Marco Antonio Solis, and the public wanted more singing form Solis. In the end, though, Pardo won big time and was applauded by the audience, which has not been particularly inclined to applaud Peruvian singers in previous years. I understand Eva Ayllon was booed some time ago.
Anyway, great news for Peruvians and for Chileans!!!

VIÑA DEL MAR.- La canción "Mi alma entre tus manos" que interpretó el peruano Jorge Pardo se quedó con la Gaviota de Plata por el primer lugar en la competencia internacional de la cuadragésima sexta versión del Festival Internacional de la Canción de Viña del Mar.
Además de la gaviota, el tema peruano se hizo acreedor de 30 mil dólares, consignados al primer lugar.
Pero no fue eso lo único que Pardo ganó. Además, el jurado lo eligió como el mejor intérprete, por lo que recibió una segunda Gaviota de Plata y otros 10 mil dólares.
El tema de Perú superó a "Tú no me conoces", de Estados Unidos, en la voz de Marc. A. Millán, y a la canción argentina "Cada día más", de Pablo Novak.
Bastante emocionado, Pardo cantó el tema ganador envuelto en una bandera de su país y agradeció al público que, distinto a ocasiones anteriores, lo escuchó respetuoso y le brindó un aplauso.
