Chilenos have never had a problem with la altura, as a matter a fact Chile was one of the few teams that supported Bolivia and their La Paz games...

...Pero lo ke me asusta es ke uno de los doctores Ecuatorianos salio en la tele diciendo ke el efecto de la altura se siente entre el quinto y el sexto dia, justo cuando juegan!

Por eso voy con el empate, that and the fact that we haven't beaten Ecua in Ecu since '77, aunke Bielsa a roto todas las tradiciones, it should be a wicked game, plus Ecua se hace sentir de local, eso es lo ke nos falta a nosotros cry no asustamos a nadie jugando en Santiago!

Marcelo Bielsa y su lucha por reescribir la historia

El DT terminó con una racha de 9 años sin ganarle a Colombia y de 12 sin triunfos ante México. Ahora los desafíos son superar el triste registro en Quito y derrotar por primera vez a Argentina.

Los últimos triunfos de Chile han marcado verdaderos hitos en la estadística de la Selección. Frente a Colombia, el equipo de Bielsa logró un triunfo que terminó con una racha de nueve años sin victorias ante los "cafeteros", y el 1-0 ante México acabó con 12 años sin festejos sobre los "aztecas".


Si bien el cotejo con el "Tri" fue un amistoso sin mayor trascendencia, en el fútbol siempre es positivo ganar y más cuando se está en la mitad de un proceso clasificatorio a un Mundial. Una victoria que, además, fortalece la confianza en el esquema del rosarino, que tambaleó tras la goleada de Brasil, en Santiago.


Pero ahora Bielsa enfrenta dos nuevos desafíos en las próximas fechas eliminatorias, donde la "Roja" también mantiene registros negativos. La Selección nunca ha logrado una victoria por eliminatorias en Quito y, además, no sabe de triunfos en partidos oficiales ante Argentina.


UNA PLAZA INSUPERABLE
Chile ha jugado en cinco ocasiones frente a la escuadra del Guayas en la capital ecuatoriana y sólo ha sumado una victoria por 2-1 el 9 de junio de 1993, en un cotejo de carácter amistoso.


Los otros cuadro duelos han sido por clasificatorias mundialistas, y la "Roja"  ha cosechado dos empates y dos derrotas. El 3 de marzo de 1985 Chile empató 1-1; bajo la dirección de Nelson Acosta, la Selección sumó un empate 1-1 el 8 de junio de 1997; en el 8 de octubre de 2000 la "Roja" cayó 1-0, y en las pasadas eliminatorias, el 10 de octubre, el equipo de Juvenal Olmos perdió por 2-0 en el Atahualpa.
 
NUNCA UN TRIUNFO
Con Argentina el escenario es más complejo aún, pues Chile nunca ha ganado un partido oficial ante la "Albiceleste", un triste registro que sólo comparte con Venezuela en el concierto sudamericano.


Para tener una idea, la Selección se ha medido en 81 ocasiones con la "Albiceleste" y sólo ha vencido en cuatro partidos amistosos, todos jugados en Santiago: el 18 de noviembre de 1959 (4-2), el 8 de noviembre de 1967 (3-1), el 4 de diciembre de 1968 (2-1) y el 18 de julio de 1973 (3-1).


Una historia que podría comenzar a cambiar en la próxima fecha eliminatoria.

Ecuador recibirá por primera vez a Chile con estadio lleno

Nunca antes en Eliminatorias el Atahualpa de Quito había tenido tanta demanda de entradas para un pleito ante Chile. Sólo restan siete mil entradas por vender.

Efervescencia total existe en Ecuador con miras al pleito de este fin de semana ante Chile, y que corresponde al cierre de la primera rueda de las Eliminatorias mundialistas rumbo a Sudáfrica 2010.


El fenómeno se puede apreciar en la venta de entradas, que sigue desarrollándose a un ritmo acelerado, por lo que sólo restan por venderse poco más de siete mil boletos.


En ese sentido, se asegura que el duelo entre ambos países se jugará a estadio lleno, algo nunca antes ocurrido en el Atahualpa de Quito en pleitos ante Chile.

"El éxito de la venta ha sido evidentemente exitoso, pues apenas quedan siete mil entradas por venderse, y de ese número ya hay muchas que están reservadas por diversas empresas. Sin duda sobrepasaremos las 35 mil entradas, por lo que sería la primera vez que con Chile se juega a estadio lleno por las eliminatorias", aseguró el ingeniero Marcelo Valencia a Radio Quito, que junto a la Federación local se encarga del tema.


En total, 18 mil boletos se vendieron en abonos junto a otros partidos, 12 mil se agotaron en preventa, y las siete mil restantes se comenzarán a vender mañana (37.300 fueron puestas a la venta).


Una de las razones de la acelerada venta es la importancia del duelo, pues se enfrentan rivales directos. Pero a ello se suma la confianza que existe con el equipo de Sixto Vizuete, que no pierde hace cinco fechas.

In 1990 Bielsa was given the task of managing Newell's first team where he would later go on to win the 1990 Torneo Apertura and the 1990-91 Torneo Integración defeating Boca Juniors in penalties. El Loco managed the squad that competed in the final of the "1992 Copa Libertadores".

Bielsa and Newell's won the 1992 Torneo Clausura

Albicelestes were runners-up in 2004 Copa América and won the 2004 Olympic Games' golden medal prize.[3] Argentina became the first Latin American team to win the Olympic title in football since 1928.
