Okay there seems to be a little bit of confusion here I am the one that said the foro is for debate/discussion not anonymous. It's true though that is what this foro is for to talk about things that interest different people. At least that is the way I look at it. I just think anonymous got a little passionate. Just because we are talking about this does not make us CHISMOSOS that was more my point. It is after all a current event. It's true... if anyone thinks this issue is boring, then ignore it and moved on. But I also think it's healthy to discuss it. It's not yesterday's news. It's something that affects us as Latinos and as citizens altogether, and if anything, bringing out in the open and discussing it will maybe avoid another incident like this? Or, if anything, maybe it'll make the people at Plaza and other clubs tighten their security a bit more? Not to let anyone in with guns? Yeah there is few "opportunities" for Lawsuits for example Plaza can sue the punk kid......

I too agree that the dress code thing does nothing to keep violence or trouble makers out of clubs. However, I do believe that certain atmospheres can play a role in ppls behaviour. it's all psycological. For example, it's scientificaly proven that certain colours have certain effects on ppl...like McDaonald's and Tim Horton's restaurants having light brown walls or seats...that's cause it's a colour proven to make ppl want to eat...no joke.

I reviewed some of the comments and some to see in a different perspective than others but hey we are all entitled to say what we have to say. "Babes" the pepper spray incident happened two years ago downstairs REASON because they where a group of under age kids in which was denied club admittance. Well they sprayed a bouncer & with the strong odour of pepper spray which travels through our venting system yeah hey it hit the club atmosphere. The number of fights unfortunately happens everywhere you go & sad to say about our city itself 5 incidents through the course of the weekend.
What we should really be asking ourselves is who gives these kids guns, knives, pepper spray??? if anything they are the responsible parties who should be penalized as this guy too.
In any case definately expect security to be very strict from now on & as of late they where doing a very good job with restricting people who choose to come with jeans, runners, hats, etc... up untill this horrible Friday which passed. Just remember that Plaza Flamingo isnt going down because of this incident it only makes it stronger, sure it might not be at first but remember this is a strong firm

You know guys, I totally understand, i know that if we keep thinking like this then we would never leave the house.........but its just frustrating cause it could have been prevented! Anyway, I really do hope that everyone, club owners and bouncers are even more tight. i wouldn't complain if I had to wait to get into a club for around 30 minutes if thats what it takes for the bouncers to check each and every one of us.........

Hey Genie girl, you keep on supporting Plaza, but what it looks like to me is a fertile ground for revenge! Everyone gets together there, the bouncers are biased, they let little 16 yearolds in cause they look pretty, trust me, I have seen it. The girls come in with their little dresses, the bouncers kiss them and they get in without even getting checked. The guys say "Que Paso?!", and the let them in.........Plaza is trouble. It was always a great place to go, but it has really gone down the drain lately. You keep insisting its a safe place....how do you define safe? Were you there 2 years ago when they had the pepper spray incident? Many people were sufforcating and almost froze to death because they had to vacate the club, everyone had to go outside in -10 degrees celcius. What about the time you had fights when people threw the beer bottles? You know, you can defend a club only to a certain point. In my opinion, I think its a life risk just to go to that club. They don't care about people's safety, it has always been and always will be only about the money. I totally respect all of your opinions, and I don't mean to be pinpointing or accusing or even condesending anyone. Its just so frustrating cause these things don't just happen........its planned with a motive. And its disgusting because those personnels at the door have total say and total control. How do these people get into clubs (esp. Plaza), with Knives, pepperspray, GUNS?! Esp. a 9MM., man, its really weird. It really makes you wonder. Well, all I can say is that I will be staying away from that club. Many of you guys think that this incident (isolated or not) will make latinos looks bad. Its not that at all, actually, it makes the club and the owners and the security look bad. Crimes like these happen all the time. I don't think that its a matter of race or ethnicity. this incident will make the club and the owners and the security look bad. Crimes like this can happen to anybody. Wrong place, wrong time. But we shouldn't come to the conclusion that all of a sudden Latinos will look bad. Its PLAZA and its management that will look bad. Just my thoughts..................

I hope that every one is ok. I m wondering if anyone knows an update on the victims.

I dont know what to say to this. It makes me feel confused as a Dj. I show up each and day to put on a show for people. For people to forget about their proplems and enjoy themselves. An oportunity for the latino community to show our fire our passion for the arts.

I hope that as canadian latinos we learn from this. Lets also prevent these type of insidents. My prayers go out the individual and their families.

Yet another reason to avoid clubs that lets lil' "gangstas" in without searching them. I think the club bouncers should search individuals who look suspicious or put some metal detectors like some clubs in the U.S.

Just heard about this today. VERY SAD! Good thing this punk didn't actually kill anyone. I do feel bad for his family because it's probably not his parents fault he is such a punk. Oh well I hope he gets a tough sentence so that he learns and now he will see in jail that he is not such a bad a$$ afterall.

Plaza security is usually pretty tight...too bad they did not search this guy. A VERY important lesson for other clubs .....KEEP SECURITY TIGHT....search everyone.

La verda yo no vivo en Toronto y casi nunca voy a clubs de por aca, pero al ver estas noticias uno si se pone a pensar, que esta pasando con los jovenes de ahora, que es lo que pasa por susmentes adolecentes, la verdad di da miedo. Yo pensaba ir a Plaza por que eh oido cosas muy buenas en este foro pero despues de esto la verdad no creo que lo voy a hacer. This wasn't an isolated incident. watching the news I noticed there were many shooting incidents this weekend. What is going on in the city? So, carrying guns is now the 'cool' thing to do?

I've only been to plaza to watch soccer games, and every time I've been searched, I'm not sure if they do that all the time or not.

BTW, the guy on God's picture surrendered to police.

I watched this in the news last night and I also read the article in the Sun. This is really sad. Plaza has been an okay place for many years now, and where others have gone down, it has kept going, usually packed, and it will now lose major business because of this. I agree with whoever said these people should've been searched. Didn't the bouncers always search, though? In any case, it's really sad that this happened and I feel even more sorry for the woman that was shot, 'cause she was just standing there and had nothing to do with the altercation.
This is definitely NOT going to make us latinos look good.
